Hi all, Just a thought on Aaron McLean - hopefully he will be able to blend into the side for next season, maybe a good pre season behind him will allow him to show what Pearson initially saw in him, Any thoughts?
Only ever seen him once (the last home match vs. Palace), but it struck me that he displays a lot of energy, running hard and fast. But not a lot of good football evidence... Like you (?) I hope he settles in and comes good. Walshy and NP must have seen something!
Not only that, I saw something - he was bloody brilliant against TWS at home and easily MotM. People focus too much on the obvious - admittedly glaring - misses and forget the very good stuff.
I've said all along he's got a role to play next season, possibly not in the starting line-up but certainly as a sub.
Agree with you there mate. Not our best striker but no team uses the same two all season, there's inevitably going to be a place for him at some point.
Would love to see him get some reward for the the hard work he puts in. NP sees something in him, so he will persist in him initially.
Agree with these comments, shame so many have jumped on a little bandwagon slating him after half a season.
As a striker you expect the player to be scoring goals but every team needs a grafter in the team and McClean is our man! I was quite harsh on him last year as he was starting a lot of games but i think he could maybe fit into the Barmby role in coming on in the 2nd half and working the defense. What do you guys think?
Poor first touch wont get better at his age. If someone came in and bid what we paid for him think we would all snap their hand off. But we wouldnt if it was for Matty Fryatt. People saying he can come on as sub!! We cant afford a million quid sub!
Hello everyone, my 1st post here. I thought I heard Adrian Durham state that there were rumours of him going back to Peterborough?
Hi Greatwhite, I heard that too but not sure if anything is happening on that front. We might need some income coming in if we don't shift the likes of Bullard/Oli/Ghilas/Mcshane so I suppose that would be one way of doing it, in terms of our strikers I'd imagine Fryatt, Simpson and Adebola will be in front of Aaron now so he could leave.
Welcome. Durham did indeed say he thought there was a chance of him returning, but I've not seen it mentioned anywhere else. If he is, he doesn't seem to know about it yet, he tweets every few minutes.
I took Durham to task about this on Twitter. He replied. "2 players I wanna sign this summer Sam Baldock and Aaron McLean. Only clever managers get the best out of @McleanakaMac9" More of a dig at Nigel than any rumours.
