They had nine HGs last season. They will be losing Lescott and Barry this summer (out of contract) with Rodwell and Sinclair possibly going too. So yes, the HG rule could see Milner being forced to stay.
I'd rather we signed the next superstar rather than a current one but I get what you're saying. It would make for a nice change to see a big name arrive.
See, I see that negativity comment as a positive, not a negative. We have creative unpredictable players as it highlights, we lack team players that will dig in and make sure we don't concede THAT goal. It is also important we have different options available.
Anyone reckon we should go for Tom Ince? Would be free and we can offer some sort of rotation with CL football in the mix..
Give me a N... Give me a O... Give me a W... Give me a A... Give me a Y... Give me a I... Give me a N... Give me a H... Give me a E... Give me a L... Give me a L...
I agree, we can do better. We don't need free players to sit on the bench, we need top quality players who are good enough to play first team football.
If we are not prepared to pay money for them, we shouldn't be prepared to take them because they are cheap or free!
Makes no sense but yeah Wouldn't want him. Did nothing while at Palace and isn't an improvement on Sterling or Coutinho.
There were TWO reasons why nice was let go... Namely sterling and ibe. The guy isn't half the player either are, and add daddy to that and you get a situation where frankly the only issue is daddy's constant interference has cost lfc 2-3 mil in transfer fees and sonny boy if he does go to inter is likely to end up in league 2 at the end if it
You have obviousely never watched the way City use Milner. He is brought on when they are struggling to score, not defend. His play on the right with Zab is used as a battering ram as opposed to the key of Silva, the power and pace they provide later in games tends to tear holes in otherwise tight defences and wins City many games.
I never said he should be used as a defensive player did I. I said he works hard and helps out defensively, Suarez does that too but he's in no way shape or forma defender!
Sorry Gerrez, it was just this comment "we lack team players that will dig in and make sure we don't concede THAT goal." that provoked my answer.
Milner is a very good player at what he does. There's a reason why he's been used so often at City. He'd do a good job when called upon for us. If we keep improving to the squad level of City, you start to want the Fernandinho's of the world in every position. We aren't there yet.
Some defenders don't like playing against skillful tricky and pacey players, others don't like playing against energetic never give up types, the latter is Milner. He never gives the opposition a second to waste.
Doubt it. If Saints want £25m for Lallana, that'd value Clyne at £15m which is £10m more than he's worth
