He set up a pretty nice target at the end there. Basically just admitted that it's all about selling papers regardless of the quality.
Well he's not wrong is he? It is a business aimed at their own target audience...I doubt they believe all the tosh they print, but they know what their readers want. Not everything that the government does is wrong, but they have to maintain an anti-government stance...sometimes going to ludicrous lengths. The Sun takes the opposite stance, but get themselves into a different knot. I reckon most of them despise their readers for putting them into this position.
Tempted to jump in on this twitter debate. All that guy has done is make himself look extremely immature, lacks a lot of common sense, wonder who he supports...
I never read the Mirror. It is written by and read by people at the thick end of the socialist spectrum. However, having seen the article as posted above I think that to use the word journalism within the contest of this garbage is an insult to decent journalists everywhere. I though the Sun and the Star were pathetically dire but the Mirror has reinforced my long held opinion that it is the absolute pits. I can't see it ever changing my very low opinion of it and its hacks.

Upon reflection, I think we're all being a bit over sensitive. I still won't be buying the mirror though As downmarket as the Sun, but without the wit.
The article is nothing new. Just offensive comments dressed up as wit. The fact the editor responded to a criticism of its quality was saddening.
All the papers seem to be on the bandwagon at the moment. Just over a couple of weeks and they'll be slating Englands performances and we'll be given a slight break.
