How well the BBC knows me (in the bottom left corner of the link "you might also like Live football: Cowdenbeath v Dunfermline").

Is it a play-off game? Has Ricardo stolen my IP address?

You've clearly never had the privilege of watching "Soccer dog".

Your quite right, not seen that. First thought was, could it be porn ?

But google informs me it's not. In fact it was so good they made a sequel.

Added to my bucket list of things to do.

Looking forward to the 1970s/80s programmes.

Over the years I’ve transformed from being fascinated by the 1966 success to being utterly bored of hearing about it.

Can’t be just an age thing as I’m still fascinated music/film/books and other culture of 1960s.

Argentina 78 kickstarted all this tickertape and fan frenzy stuff.

Germany 74 seems to have been played entirely in the rain with big puddles on the pitch. Plenty of room on the terraces too.

You should hang on to 66 Leon, it'll be a bloody long time before we win it again...

Yet the average attendance per game wasn't far off1966. Our average was boosted by the games played at Wembley with a100,000 capacity. There were some fairly low attendances in some parts. Being 16 at the time I remember 1966 well and anyone used to the hype and hysteria nowadays would be surprised how reatively low key everything was.

I have the 1966 one on DVD somewhere.

Watched 1930 and 1954 yesterday, looking forward to watching the rest.

As far as I recall Goal is a film about culture in 1966. Its a record of the tournament not just the final. Its a long time since I've seen it but there's footage of housing in Liverpool and Sunderland as well a fairly in depth look at the North Koreans. The way they put together the match against Argentina and Alf Ramsey's reaction is impressive.

I once spent a week watching Goal everyday at our local cinema (when we still had such things 10 minutes walk away). For me it is easily the best football film I've seen.

    Truth.

    If I was 18 in 1966 it’s highly likely I’d have a different opinion.

I'm not sure how you'd describe Amanda Bynes today.
