That's the problem as you get old...can remember the past clearly and forget where you put your glasses.
Well I have added Lallana and Lambert to my 4-4-4, which now becomes 4-5-5. I could go with Morgan to and make it a 4-6-5?
Well compare them: Shilton v Boruc Golac v Clyne Wright v Fonte Svenson v Lovren Dennis v Shaw Williams v Morgan Case v Wanyama Armstrong v Cork Le Tiss v Lallana Channon v Rodriguez Ron Davies v Rickie My choice is in bold. I couldn't make my mind up as to who I thought was best out of Stevie and Morgan.
As I said on another thread, we make players look better than they really are by playing as a team. Individually we can find better players....if only they could play at the same time.
This is difficult, Niemi Telfer - killer - lundekvaam - bridge Lallana - le tissier - marsden - fernandes Beattie - lambert/Pahars
Just before you posted that, I started to think about Stevie Williams and Morgan playing together. WOW
most of our favourites will have completed their careers with us and things have not gone sour. many of our current players have spent a couple of years with us and the jury is out. Fonte, schneiderlin, lallana, and lambert will surely stand the greatest chance of sneaking in. Lallana may rapidly lose popularity.
Since 88 Niemi Dodd - Lundekvam - Richards - Bale Schneiderlin - Case Wallace, R - Le Tissier - Lallana Lambert
And then closely by this, just to show that we have played some great football in recent years:
Lawrie Mac would have to be my Manager, although if Poch stays for over a decade, I might be inclined to change my mind!
I am a bit of an oldie but in terms of staying with the team I am surprised Nick Holmes hasn't had much of a mention. Also Steve Moran was a favourite of mine and what about Dean Richards RIP
LOved Nick Ashby but he'd do well to knock some of these out of midfield. Great servant though as was Peach.
My team would be Shilton Golac, Lovren, Waldron, Shaw Paine, S Williams, Ball, Armstrong Le Tissier Ron Davies For me, Alan Ball was the best midfielder ever!! Great player, wonderful manager and fantastic person. He loved the game and gave so much. Watching young players of 15/16 in the pouring rain to get them to sign for whichever club he was managing.
A different take on it from a younger Saints fan. Nieme Richardson Jaidi Svennson Shaw Lallana Schneiderlin Hammond Lambert Beattie Oxlade-Chamberlain I've attended games regularly since around 2003, but was a small lad so don't remember many players from around that time. Saying that, my first proper memories came as we began to slip, so don't have much good reason to remember anyone pre liehberr era. I can remember the game against united in 05 which sent us down, I was more than happy with the result as it meant we could play more games next season and we'd win most of them to come straight back up the next year. Oh how wrong 8 year old me was.
EDIT: Niemi Alderweireld - M. Svensson - Bridge Walcott - Schneiderlin - Oakley - A. Svensson - Ramirez Le Tissier - Pahars
Niemi Ostlund - Svensson - Fonte - Skacel Viafara - Svensson Walcott - MLT - Fernandes Stern John/Pahars
