Emre Can is one of the brightest talents coming out of Germany - had a very good season at Leverkusen and I would be happy to get him for £10m. The perfect type of player we need in front of the back 4 - someone who can naturally defend, cover ground quickly. The bonus is that he has quick feet, confidence and can pass. Can't forget that he;s only 20 as well.
Not sure why many of you folks in here seem to rate Sanchez so high. I'd have Shaqiri or Konoplyanka over him. I watch alot of Barca games, the guys a decent player, but lacks the mentality. His stats may say otherwise, but he's hardly been influential in any of the big games bar a well taken goal against Madird. He's afraid to try things, plays it's safe more often than not and his diving can get bloody annoying. He wouldn't enjoy the physicality of this league any bit. He's best suited in the Italian league. As for Emre Can, can safely say he'd be an upgrade on Lucas. Judging by the videos, looks the unfinished product, but hope Rodgers can work his magic on him. I like his physicality and most importantly some burning pace. Would be a good signing I suppose with one eye on the future. He's also played in CL last season, so he'd be coming with some valuable experience.
Couldn't agree more with you on Sanchez. Very talented, had a great period at Udinese, but really underperforms and doesn't impress me with how he's performed at Barca. All I heard quoted was stats when people claimed he wasn't great, and like I said then, anyone would grab goals/assists in that Barca team. Emre Can I don't know much about, but those videos of all his touches in a game are exactly exciting me. If he's another for the future, I'd rather stay away - we surely must be buying players for now since we're in the CL!
Guess Rodgers is looking to Squeeze one more year out of Gerrard, So think Can would be an understudy this season. But feel he'd be a decent replacement if given the opportunity. A full season in the Bundesliga for a side that finished 4th and a CL campaign under his belt, he comes with some experience on the big stage. Ideally, I would have liked someone like Rakitic, an experienced campaigner and a more than capable replacement for Gerrard. But lets hope it's another Coutinho-esque deal.
Rakitic would be a replacement for Gerrard of old but not the Gerrard of new. He's an attacking midfielder so we'd still need a defensive one to interchange and gradually replace Gerrard.
Can appears to have a nice mix of composure on the ball and strength. Nice dribbler for his type of player.
Something Man U and their fans are going to have to cope with this summer. CL is a bigger pull than any club these days. Unless you do a Man City and give astronomically wages (which shouldn't be happening now with FFP being enforced)
A midfield of Henderson-Rakitic and Coutinho would have More pace and Energy than with Gerrard. Rakitic works very hard defensively aswell as attack. I'd prefer Hendo in the deep playmaker role and Rakitic slightly ahead. You look at the way Arsenal play with Arteta and Ramsey or Wilshere in midfield, they don't really have an out and out DM, still leak half as much as us. One dimensional DM's are a thing of the past, i'd prefer someone who can contribute on attack aswell as good on his defensive duties.
Yup and against teams where you dominate the ball and they sit back having no DM is find. But ask Arsenal how they coped against teams that attack them with no DM? Didn't cope too well against the top3 There are some games where you need that player who'll sit infront and do that job and we don't have one. Part of the reason our CB's eere so exposed at times.
Looking more and more likely that Emre Can will be our first signing. Not seen much of him personally, but I'll trust Rodgers judgement if he does sign.
A few of the rags are running this story. Assuming it is not a load of BS, would you want Balotelli. He carries a fair bit of baggage, but is a good player (yet to prove he is a great one in my opinion). Is Rodgers the manager to get the best out of him, he seems to have made Suarez a better player with regard to temperament.
Very Very Risky. Quality player no doubt, but assuming Suarez stays I see huge clashes of personalites between the 2. I'm undecided to be honest - but no question he'll add quality to our squad.
Emre Can certainly has some trickery in his locker, and looks like he's not scared to go in hard, and scores a few too. But that's the best of Emre Can so going by that is impossible - but he looks like he has some raw talent that needs polishing (I've watched some other video's). If anyone can polish him it's Rodgers. I'd be happy with him personally. A youngster with plenty of experience, that just needs to refine his game. Worth the risk imo.
very risky buy, but Brendan has so far managed Suarez and Sterling very well, so maybe he could do the same with Balotelli. more experienced managers have failed though, but then Brendan is one of the better man management managers out there just whether its worth the risk. having one player in the team ie Luis where you dont know what he will do one minute to the next is fine and just about manageable, do we want 2 of them lol
I don't think we should take a chance, it would be different if we were desperate for a striker, like Arsenal, but our problem is keeping clean sheets. We are the oversexed teenager of the prem!
