Tony Barrett: Liverpool have made a breakthrough in their pursuit of Emre Can & appear to be closing in on a £12m deal for the Germany U-21 international.
You have to give a bit of credit to Chelsea (even though I really don't want to). They're managing to sell unwanted players for huge amounts (Mata, De Bruyne, Luiz) and have built up a huge squad before FFP kicked in allowing them to sell a lot of these players they currently have on loan to then generate money to enable them to buy quality while still meeting FFP. The fact they had millions they could in theory "waste" on players they know are never going to play for them obviously helped though
think they was very clever in what they have done regarding ffp rules, don't think they deserve credit though, quite easy to stock pile players when money is no option.
Anyone seen what Can is like? I remember a few years ago he was rated as an excellent prospect as a U18, but is £10-12 million a good price or not?

He seems to lose possession quite alot in those vids,or is it just me Looks like a strong, physical box to box midfielder who can cover the ground. Exactly the type of player we need.Don't know if this guy is the right guy though.
Videos don't fill me with confidence! Hopefully our scouting team has watched him a bit more extensively
might be a good thing he don't look that good in the vids lol, we usually have the opposite problem in they look good and we get them and they end up being ****e.
Better back up than Toure and younger so room to develop. Apparently had a release clause following the relegation so anything around £5m wouldn't be terrible business.
Emre Can looks a lot like Lucas. Which isn't an insult, but it isn't a compliment either. Don't we want a more elite, range of abilities player to replace Lucas and possibly Gerrard? Not like for like.
can he run... if he can run he's beter than lucas, period. lucas is a good plaer, nice guy but i feel that his legs are gone.
Can looks strong and athletic. He can shoot and finishes and his position looks good. His tackling is sloppy and rough. His passing inconsistent and he gives the wall away to much.
Konoplyanka rejects Man U. Could this be a publicity stunt to make sure he is already an LFC favourite when he arrives? http://www.thesportbible.com/articles/man-united-target-controversially-rejects-club
