Over 50,000 fans will flock to Sunderland on Wednesday, as One Direction take to the Stadium of Light stage. Fans are advised to plan their journey to and from the stadium carefully and arrive well in advance of the show as entry points will be extremely busy. Naturally with an event of this size there will be queues and fans should ensure that they are dressed appropriately for the weather conditions. As the stadium prepares for the concert, construction and building work will be on-going until the day of the show. To ensure the safety of everyone attending, there will be no queuing permitted in the days leading up to the concert. External courtyard areas will open after 2:30pm, with the main stadium gates open from 5pm. One Directionâs support act, 5 Seconds of Summer, are set to take to the stage at 6:50pm, with the main act due on at approximately 8:15pm. Concert-goers are reminded however that show times are approximate and can be subject to change on the day. No items of food or drink will be permitted to be brought into the venue and catering outlets are available, both within the external courtyard and the stadium concourses. A range of food and beverage options will be available, including pizzas, burgers, hotdogs, wraps and soft drinks. Those attending the show are reminded that a âChallenge 25â protocol will be in place and anyone wishing to purchase alcohol who appears to be under the age of 25, will be asked to provide proof of age. Approach roads to the stadium will be closed on show day to ensure the safety of the large numbers of pedestrians and there is no parking or access available at the stadium itself, or the surrounding residential areas. Those attending the concerts or collecting young people after the show should use the city centre car parks, which are just a short walk from the stadium. The car parks will remain open late on Wednesday evening. An official rendezvous point is located within the Sheepfolds Industrial Estate, close to St Peterâs Metro station and parents or guardians can meet youngsters â again there is no vehicle access to this area and it must be accessed on foot. Responsible adults shouldn't allow their children to be brainwashed by Simon Cowell. Instead of wasting good money on this ****e they should educate their kids and introduce them to free choice, individualism and decent music
