Wow.. Investigation. This could go long into the night as if they do pin it down on Nico with telemetry and onboard footage, he can say it was a honest mistake under pressure etc etc. This is fascinating...
Barcelona Test - Day 1 Share122Tweet20 Hamilton tests solutions for Rosberg's start issues ESPN Staff May 13, 2014 « Fastest lap bodes well for Monaco - Chilton | Improvement despite shunt - Kobayashi » © Sutton Images Enlarge Part of Lewis Hamilton's testing programme at Barcelona on Tuesday was focused on solving a clutch issue team-mate Nico Rosberg has been struggling with at the start of recent races. Hamilton was at the wheel of the W05 on Tuesday in Barcelona, but had his running limited by a wet morning before working on engine management and aero evaluations as well as practice starts in the afternoon. Ahead of the test team boss Toto Wolff revealed that Rosberg was struggling with starts and that Mercedes had made it a "special project" to get to the bottom of the issue. "On the starts we have a problem on Nico's car," Wolff said. "It seems to be a problem related to the clutch. That is a special project of ours; we expected some improvement for Barcelona which didn't kick in as expected. We just need to sort it out for Monaco because that's crucial there and we discussed it in the debrief." After testing on Tuesday, Hamilton said he had been working on the issue ahead of Monaco where a start can make all the difference. "The start at every race is important, but Nico's been a little bit unhappy with some of the starts and as a team we have been okay but it could be better. We were really trying to focus on that to see if we could improve it." Hamilton said the weather and track conditions meant there was not much point in working on set-up. "Today was kind of a non-eventful day really. There was nothing that a test driver couldn't do and I was just putting in laps really and working on the starts. We didn't really change much and the track conditions and temperatures were different so there isn't really much you can compare to the weekend." They mentioned Michael in 2006 happy to bring that up. No reminder or well wishes about his situation.
Yes they were, Lewis was generally quicker in the 2nd sector than Rosberg, so for him it was a good start to the lap. Deliberate or not, that will have got to Lewis. Rosberg has definitely smashed the ball back into Hamilton's court. First corner tomorrow could get a bit feisty if Rosberg drops it at the start like he has done recently.
Maybe it was intentional to crash the site to stop the outpouring of bullshit!? Only Autosport know! ooh, new controversy!
We have 25 members and 21 guests. Sign up people, come and join the controversy! We had cookies but Hamilton ate them. The hunger is real.
BEN ANDERSON: "Looks as though Rosberg's final effort through sector one was quicker than we first thought. Fractionally slower on a 19.9s on that final lap. Hamilton also on 19.9s when he was forced to abort." But remember Hamilton was much quicker than Rosberg in the middle sector all through.
I was watching, and up to date with the test, but maybe unlike you I was interested in all the drivers and not just one in particular. I will see if I can find one of the interviews where Lewis referred to the generic improvements the team were trying to find to improve their car starts because they felt it was an overall weakness. If it makes you fell better though you carry on believing that Lewis designed, developed and outperformed the Merc above every other member in the team and now because he is so good he is now helping poor old Nico out! Lol Fanboy!
Nothing will happen to Rosberg, all he had to do was compete the same line, "lock up his tyres" that is all they will do when looking at the data. He will convince them as he will only have to brake that slightly bit later to convince them it was legitimate "mistake"
