A little research into archeological studies of the British Isles blows that myth well and truly into the frying pan. Don't tell me Phil you think the Grand Canyon was shaped overnight too?
Well I can see if I lay into the Atheists again on here, we are going to continue to go around in ever decreasing circles? They say that 1 in 4 of the UK population has mental health issues, I would argue with that, I think judging by the reasoning on this thread it's probably more like 1 in 2!.......... But there again maybe the Commies have infiltrated the UK, next we'll be going Totalitarian, and Banning all religion and making Atheism the state religion, Red Ed as Stalin!.................
Just because recorded history of Civilisation only goes back some 6000 years, doesn't mean the earth is that age, I have already said the Earth could be Millions of years old, do keep up Valley, what point are you trying to make anyway?
Atheism is still a minority religion in this country (Approx 1%) but clearly on here they are out in numbers!.............
It's common Knowledge that the holy Roman empire in the 2nd century AD, rejected many of the teachings of the 1st century Christians, in an attempt to satisfy the worshipers of their Roman Gods, which were borrowed from the Greeks. That is why many religions grew and developed teachings to suit their national customs, and Pagan Deities, and that formed the basis of such non biblical teachings within the numerous religions of Chrisendom. That is why Religion and the Bible are two different things, something that our 'Valley teacher' is having difficulty in understanding............ Your second point I'm not sure what your trying to make, as we have not found life anywhere else yet, no matter how hard we have tried over the decades, the fact that there are Billions of 'Earth like planets' doesn't in itself mean they are populated with life, but then they might well be, there is no statement in the Bible that the creator has stopped creating, or that he has created life just on this planet, you are speculating on a subject that the Bible does not comment on, I personally have many questions as to the purpose of the vastness of the universe, but there is no information regarding this in the bible, and neither has the Scientific community have any answers yet, though they have been trying for over 50 years?.....................
I got it from the Atheists themselves, but there are plenty of places were you can get the figures, around the world they constitute an estimated 2.01%, and non-religious (agnostic) 9.66%. It's sunday school today girls....................
Nothing surprises me in the UK anymore. It's the same with all the arguments over the eastern europeans coming here and what numbers truly came. There seems to be a consensus from some people, that if they come here and work and pay into our tax system then what is the problem, far better some may say than our resident counterparts. What they don't tell you is the figures that relate to those same hard working east europeans that are claiming tax credits and housing benefits while working. Hence are they taking back out more than they put in. A similar circumstance to the original post.
The whole ethos of Christianity is that humans are special and created in God's image. Such arrogance. Life will be found eventually you know that as well as I do but we're limited by the vastness of space and our current technology. 50 years is nothing really and we've only just begun. The answers will come and when they do I anticipate that the reigious nutjobs will come up with another 're-interperetation' of the Bible. As for Atheism it's not a religion and it's rather amusing that you describe it as such. I also see you've been hitting Wiki again. Worldwide figures are the ones you've quoted but you have to remember that atheists are an oppressed minority in many countries so data is unreliable. In strict Islamic countries they are actually put to death. But as you're a Wiki fan you'll also know that 10 years ago a BBC poll revealed that almost 40% of the UK population said they did not believe in a god. As Christianity has been steadily collapsing over the last 10 years it's probably much more than 40% now. It's this fact that will hopefully stem the tide of rising Islam because it looks as if the followers of your little book are screwed.
There is no one higher up the chain, the Bible makes it quite clear that God 'The Creator' had no beginning or ending, he has always existed, There are many statements to this effect and the phrase "alpha and omega" signifies that God is eternal. For us who had a beginning it's difficult to understand the concept of the creator having no beginning at all, or the fact that when he first started to create the universe, what was there before, and what is the ever expanding universe expanding into, were is the literal space that the universe is expanding into coming from? whether you believe in a supreme being or not, it is accepted that the Universe had a starting point, and that it is still expanding, but what is it expanding into?.................
It's not expanding into anything, it's just expanding. Lawrence Krauss has some interesting theories on this - look him up. His 'something from nothing' theory was ridiculed by the religious lobby some years ago but the University of Michigan went on and proved it years later: http://www.popsci.com/science/artic...ing-theory-says-matter-can-be-conjured-vacuum http://www.scientificamerican.com/article/something-from-nothing-vacuum-can-yield-flashes-of-light/ And this more recently: "The Big Bang Didn't Need God to Start Universe, Researchers Say" http://www.space.com/16281-big-bang-god-intervention-science.html It blows a hole right through religion imo because we now know that matter can indeed be created spontaneously from a vacuum, though the researchers themselves are rather more diplomatic in their choice of words.
How is that arrogance? surely if the Creator God did make man in his image, then that is a compliment to man, and if I make something and say to you 'see what I have made', how am I being arrogant? your reasoning is flawed again, Dragonborn you need to look in the mirror mate, it is you who are arrogant in denying and not giving credit to the creator for all of his outstanding creation, this planet is a master piece, a Jewell in the sky it has been described by some, but it is your arrogance and those like you that will be your undoing, when the penny finally drops in you lap!...................
Once again you make a stupid statement, how does this blow a hole through religion? Scientists are not Gods, how many libraries of scientific knowledge has been scrapped over the years, by new findings?
If the "creator", and I use that term as loosely as I possibly can, is what you say, why did he bother making other planets? What purpose is there of other planets in our solar system? Why bother creating a universe at all, seems a lot of wasted space to make. Its mentioned that he made us in his image, what if he is a lion, and he made lion's in his image, and we were not meant as the dominant species, but that he ****ed up?
You can't have a reasoned debate with someone who is incapable of logical thinking, it's pointless. You're all wasting your time.
