I notice that according to Oddschecker, most betting companies are no longer taking bets on Tottenham job (unless there is some blip) with Mauricio the favourite and de Boer close behind.

They dont all price up these markets Fran. Some avoid them because they say there is too much inside information.

Was only going by the fact that it is different from yesterday when most were giving odds. As you say, they may have withdrawn as they feel it leaves them open to insider knowledge. Amazing that, as we don't have the foggiest. :)

Only takes a few people to lay large bets and the bookies take the market down. Odds would be massively shorter if they thought MP was a done deal.

I wouldn't be surprised if Spurs bring someone in from left field. As they appear not to be in detailed talks with anyone (as far as we know) it may be true the board are undecided as presumably they would want someone in place sooner rather than later.

De Boer is saying he's had no approach, Laudrup has settled his differences with Cardiff so is available and a much better manager than MP.

Perhaps we should go for Laudrup<laugh> Can you imagine Mauricio's face if he saw Laudrup talking to Ralph...never hurts to keep people on their toes.

It's happened a couple of times this week. No idea what it means.

My post wasn't really about the number of managers Spurs have had or the number we have had. It was really meant to reflect the feeling that in the last 5 years everything at Southampton has been thoroughly considered and all the major decisions, so far, have proved to be correct.

By contrast, Spurs appear to the outsider to make one bad decision after another and without appearing to have any strategy to support them.

In this sense, I believe that in the next few years, providing we are able to keep the bulk of this team intact, Saints could easily replace Spurs in the pecking order.

Spurs, to me, are not a Champions League team but I honestly believe that we have the potential to become one (if we are allowed to!).

given financial backing it's possible to do a tottenham or an everton. whether it's possible to go as far as a liverpool these days is unproven but there must be people who would jump at the chance to throw their money at it for public profile. it seems odd to me for someone with minimal interest in football or showing off to keep hold of it and dismantle a decent platform for bridging the gap only to run a mid table club.

When a bookies freeze something means a lot of cash has been bet. The Shaw betting has been closed since last night.

    http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/fo...an-Utd-and-Liverpool-bids-for-Southampton-duo

Okay it's the Star and by no means certain Mauricio is staying (hedging his bets is my guess). The thing I do find interesting is that no one is sure if Adam and Luke are moving. If it was close to being done deals a lot of people would know for sure...then a wider number who know somebody and so on. Yet we still get the story changing on a day to day basis as different rumours emerge. The Lallana to Liverpool story has weakened for example. I don't know what is happening, but I bet nothing is set in stone at the moment.

I seem to remember when Mr Redknapp left us to return to Pompey, his price absolutely crashed before the announcement. Of course there's no evidence to suggest that Harry himself had anything to do with that, but he was seen leaving William Hill's with a suitcase in either hand.

The weird thing is that half the bets are on 'others' which includes Mauricio. The rest are on named managers including de Boer (3/1) and a few others on long odds, such as Klinsmann. This means that quite a lot of money has been put on the outsiders (where you would get a bigger return)...not very logical.

Former Basel coach Murat Yakin has just entered the betting for next Saints manager on Betfair, at around even money. Might just be down to the Swiss connection and the fact he's only just parted company with Basel.

IF we lose MP, he'd be an interesting choice. Seems to have done well with Basel.

Ps. When did he become former?
