Good signing, shows ambition. Just convince Neville, Keown and Le Saux to put down their mic's and that's a decent and experienced back 4.
So it looks like we intend to stick with Morgan and Wassa with Upson and Moore as back-up. Are people happy with this? Should we sign another centre back? We have let two go, so maybe we will sign another. Nige is certainly getting in there early again (Brighton only got knocked out of the play-offs last week!).
I'll admit I'm not too "inspired" at the prospect of starting the season with those 4 as our only CB's. Happy to be proved wrong, mind... Would have been okay with Upson had we stayed in the Championship, but not sure how much use he's going to be for a season in the Premiership? Will we be playing Morgan and Upson together? Certainly doesn't fill me with much confidence!
Brighton fans pretty gutted he has left....... http://www.northstandchat.com/showt...son-joins-Leicester-City-on-one-year-contract
I don't think there's much between Wasa and Upson, except that Upson has more Premier League experience. I agree it's not the CB signing I was expecting, which makes me wonder if they'll be another. Also think Moore will drop to fourth choice now. I wonder if go out or loan or whether we'll be brave enough to play him. He is the only CB we have with any significant future - maybe Upson and Wasa are seen as stopgaps until Moore is ready to step up.
Could be wrong but all 4 of your new signings seem to be rushed and erratic. I question whether any of them are really truly good enough for you and this league. What are your feelings on them all?
Rushed and erratic? What makes you say that? We signed Jack Barmby for the development squad, on a free, won't be anywhere near the first team. We have Kasper as our first choice keeper, and I'm pretty happy with that. We've needed a good backup for ages, and Ben Hamer seems good enough for that purpose. I'll agree with you on Upson, haven't quite worked that one out yet. We know we've lost Dyer, and to be honest, we needed more wingers anyway. I always thought Albrighton was a good player, pretty happy with that.
I'd agree with this summary. My only concern over Upson is that I don't think he's any better than Wasa or Morgan. As back-up, great. But I think it will be a gamble to assume Wasa and/or Upson can cut it in the Prem week in week out (some would include Morgan in this too, although I think he'll be fine). Not saying they can't, but I'd prefer a younger yet experienced option. Still, it is only MAY!!!
On the flip side, you could say that other sides havn't worked fast enough to secure their signatures. Barmby isn't going to be seen in the first team yet. Upson was one of Brightons best players last year, and for me, he'll be slightly less irratic than Wasyl. Hamer knows hes going to haveto fight for a position that Kaspers made his own, and a much better prospect than what we had if Kasper got injured last season. Most teams in the prem have a reserve keeper who could get into 80% of championship teams. Albrighton is a straight swap for the (supposedly) outgoing Dyer, who may have a good cross on him! Hes impressed at Villa this season. Upson and Albrighton have had fairly big injuries in recent times (this may explain their short contracts), but have come back to prove that they can still play at a top level.
I hadn't realised he was so old, but you can't argue with his experience. He probably won't start every game but our other old boys have all been good so far, so if Pearson thinks he's good enough, then I'm happy.

TBH guys..Upson is a good player but not sure he is whatyou guys needed. Having said that, with NP's record you have to trust in his decisions. as much as i joke about..Pearson is a good manager..you've just to buy into his ideas.. Upson wont be a burden, thats for sure !
I was concerned about Solano and he turned out to be pretty handy!! He does like his golden oldies NP and 99/100 gets them firing on all cyclinders again!
I mean their contract statuses at Villa and Brighton. They have had pretty good seasons and you'd think the only reason they wern't tied down with longer deals was due to concerns about their previous injuries. Though maybe Upsons was more to do with age
Not everyone's an Upson fan then? http://thegamesgonecrazier.blogspot.co.uk/2014/06/leicester-planning-for-immediate-return.html
That idiot posts for reactions. He's worse than Queenie. Not sure what he has against Leicester though but, since we're back in the same division, I suppose he'll be posting more bull about us over the next year. Perhaps the West Ham fans are worried about the clubs that have come up.
Thanks hun, I knew you'd warm to me eventually X Seriously though, if you can get 18 decent games out of Upson you'll be ok. No chance he'll make a whole season though.
