Oh yes East Ukrainians are a good source of unbiased info on the EU - they are RUSSIAN :) EU = totally ineffective and yet our average annual growth rate tripled in it - worth 100 times what we pay in. Sorry what is this viable alternative that we have not previously had? UKIP don't offer one.

So you replace quotes from a rag with quotes form a paper that is arch Tory and far right full of colonels and the like - the Telegraph has always been anti Europe in all its forms. My dislike of the Mail has nothing to do with Watford - it is that it is a useless rag.

Nobody expects the EU to reform themselves - but the UK can demand certain changes as they did under Margaret Thatcher - there is a lot of public support for less administration and bureaucracy all over Europe now. I think you need to calm down on rapists etc - have you any evidence that those groups are behind that issue - I understood it was more about civil liberties but many who do not support the EU are not strongly in favour of those are they?
STH - why do I bother to answer you when I know you are just wumming? Tony Blair had almost nothing to do with Europe - and there has never been a poll showing 90% against the EU - in fact in 1975 a referendum in the UK voted in favour of continuing membership. Since then polls tend to show support for EU fairly evenly split pro and anti. The last I saw was 54% in favour of being IN the EU a week or two ago.

So the report is not published but you are able to brand people liars and cheats without evidence - so much for innocent till proved guilty. No wonder those involved would like a chance to give their side before the jury comes to its conclusion - think that is a basic principle of justice - prosecution and defence cases prepared and then the jury gives a verdict.

I cannot believe how many people do not seem to cherish living in a free society with rules for civil liberty and justice. So many throw up an accusation and then let the mud it creates stick - leaving untruths and false impressions to do their insidious dirty work for them. Look at how the lives of the two Coronation Street actors were ruined by false accusations that failed to be proved in Court. Nobody will ever forget the accusations and for many "there is no smoke without fire" so even being found innocent does not help.

I have never thought it necessary but if it takes EU justice to prevent abuse of our human rights then that would be another point in favour of the EU for me.

Seems a few folk are asking awkward questions of the political establishment and are not making do with the lies that they spout trying to protect themselves.
The EU is a waste of money we are geographically part of europe Yes but as a nation we should be governing ourselves. On the 1st of November 2014 look at some of the rights Mr Cameron and his cronies have signed away .
Trade with europe can still continue outside of the EU as it does with the rest of the world. Immigrants will still be able to come into the UK , but will have to go through due process as Brits abroad have to do . If the UK leaves the EU it does not mean that overnight we will not be able to go to france etc , some of the europhile lies are getting more and more desperate.
Whatever your political persuasion of the past I urge people to look at policies and facts and not empty rhetoric.
the Labour party is not what it once was ie the working mans party , infact over last 20 years their policies have become more and more tory!
The Conservatives used to be strong and protect the Nations soveriegnity ( Maggie era etc) Now they appeasing their EU masters like lapdogs!
Liberals well maybe at local elections are ok but nationally a spent force , the greens have some good ideas and good policies but will have to sell their soul and ally to another partie if they will amount to anything .
and UKIP the new kid on the block that everyone mainstream is attacking with smear campaigns ,intimidation (bricking of members houses) denying them free speech at every turn (thank god for social media that can expose the plants in mainstream media like the left wing sponsored BBC.)
The UK like it or not is in a critical year for our future in out EU , scottish devolution etc the very real threat from Russia in the Ukraine , increasing terrorist organisations . please vote for what you believe to be the best for the future of our sons/daughters and grandsons/granddaughters.

Lenny - it is not groups that are jumping on the EU ruling that individuals can demand that their past, and that includes convictions reported in the press, should be forgotten. It is individuals. So someone convicted of some horrible crime such as those I have listed above can demand that Google remove their details in their search engine so that a search of their name will not return any hits on websites where their crimes are reported and that individual cannot have taken down as it is a matter of public record. To give you an example:- one of the owners and one of the managers of our favourite football teams just up the M1 have convictions for drug dealing and fraud. Under this ruling they could demand that Google removes their details from their search engine so that this detail reported in the Daily Telegraph does not return a match. In yesterdays independent, it reported that 1,000's of people across Europe have requested such actions from Google - some of these the rich and famous, although no names are included. Personally I have no love of Google, but this appears to be a bad move in the freedom of information.

Regarding Chilcot, maybe liars and cheats is a bit harsh without reading the report, I accept that. But I have a huge concern that this report is now years behind its planned publication date whilst the civil service make arrangements to make available documents reviewed in the enquiry so that those who will be criticised can go through the process of "Maxwellisation." Take time to read the correspondence between Chilcot and the PM, it's utterly staggering. I can foresee that huge chucks of documents will be blacked out in the name of national security - yes another cover up into the illegal occupation of Iraq. Meanwhile Blair continues his activities in the Middle East including trying to get us directly involved in Syria.

w-y - the EU ruling on Google is a complicated issue - for a start I guess it goes far wider than Europe. Actually there are good arguments on both sides. Personally I do not agree with it -for a start all it does is make finding information harder - it does not erase it but just prevents an easy search. However judges in both the UK and the EU often make strange rulings - I hope this particular one goes Googles way on appeal but it is not for me a reason to get out of Europe. I expect there to be many good EU rulings that overturn bad UK ones - I am in favour of reducing EU laws that do not need to be above National level. For example although I am opposed to capital punishment I do not see why - as in the US - individual states cannot have their own ruling on it. A humane society will always ban it but it does not need to be Euro wide. We need to take more legislation out of the hands of the EU that is all.

People should always demand replies from MPs - that is what democracy is about.
You keep saying the EU is a waste of money - but present no arguments - the EU costs too much and most people throughout Europe agree on that and I am confident people power will force a continued reduction. However the benefits in terms of our historic growth dwarf those costs. Of course we can always trade with the rest of the world - from inside or outside the EU - that makes no difference either way. The benefit of being in the EU though is that it gives us preferential access to the biggest market place in the world - leave the EU and we will still trade with the EU but on more costly terms - that is a simple fact not rhetoric.
The only people I have heard use the argument about people not being able to go to France and the like are in fact UKIP who pretend that is what others say. They don't. Another Fact though is that if we leave Europe then we no longer have the right to work in the EU as citizens of the EU - we would simply be in the same position as say an American wanting to work there.

You have your views on all the parties - as do the rest of us - however do not kid yourself that UKIP members are saints. Smear campaigns are not necessary when you can view a UKIP candidate blaming the Somerset flooding on Gay Marriage. There are too many examples of UKIP prospective members opening their mouths and putting their foot in it for anyone to need to make up rubbish about them. Who denies free speech to UKIP at every turn - Farrage appears on TV more than any other politician and he IS UKIP.

Most significantly of all is that UKIP have no MPs so are powerless to carry through any policy - a vote for UKIP is just a protest vote. If you really felt strongly against Europe you would have to vote Tory as they are the only Party committed to a referendum. All other parties have no intention of withdrawing or even renegotiating a new deal. If you want to thank UKIP for anything then that is what you should be doing - they forced the Tories into that corner.

You end bizarrely - whose policies do you recommend to keep Scotland from voting for independence, for keeping Russia out of Ukraine or for fighting terrorism - not UKIP for certain as they have no MPs and do not want their MEPs to vote in Europe. UKIP = wasted vote (at best)

This won't make choosing who to vote for any easier..... but at least will give much needed perspective!

... and me too... Incidentally I would have considered a green vote to be a wasted vote in the past... but Green candidates are getting elected under PR......

Technically almost ALL votes are wasted votes - when did a candidate last win a seat by a margin of 1. Your vote will make no actual difference to the candidate elected in 99.999% of elections. The logic of that then is vote for the person you want irrespective of whether they can get in. If you like Green vote Green. (but if you like UKIP go and sort yourself out :) )

Play nicely yorkie - I'm sure most of these were "taken out of context". <doh> It worries me that prospective Members of parliaments or Councils are saying this type of stuff. If we said pretty much any of them in our various workplaces we'd probably get fired - rightly so i might add.

How very strange that Mr.UKIP is claiming huge success in the council elections when his share of the poll seems to have dropped by 6%.

    Probably very accurate. :(

I can almost live with the fact that to be a politician requires little formal qualifications, that they are remunerated quite handsomely for doing very little actual work - other than braying like donkeys and toeing the party line - and can even set their own rate of pay, they employ people to fob off constituent enquiries/answer letters for them etc. But what I can't come to grips with is their attitude towards other members of society, particularly workers whether 'degree qualified' or not. They seem to view themselves as experts in any industry simply because of their elevated position, and deem themselves to know better than anyone 'at the coalface'.

I'm obviously coming from a teacher's perspective - but I am constantly amazed at the garbage that comes out of their mouths on the issue of education, and am equally amazed at the fact that they expect the public to buy what they are saying. Michael Gove is a case in point with the indecent haste in his push for free schools, and the underhand & downright deceitful manner in which he is pushing for them. He denigrates the qualified and vastly experienced teaching profession, and is on course to do away with qualified professionals in schools altogether. What on earth he thinks the future will be like is anyone's guess, but allowing schools to employ teaching staff whose 'qualifications' are 4 C grade GCSEs is nothing short of madness. My son is a rather bright 14 year-old who already has surpassed that level, even he recognises the stupidity of that.

I guess that is one of the many reasons I'm voting Yes in September - to attempt to escape the lunacy that plagues Westminster. :)

OK - I wonder why - you would not think that politicians in Britain behaved that differently - maybe it is because Scotland has a better reputation for its education so is not seen as "needing" influence as much
