Well perhaps now we can all move on , Thanks Michael , no hard feelings and thanks for the many positive memories .
    agreement reached with former manager

Swansea City can confirm that a settlement agreement has been reached with former manager Michael Laudrup following his dismissal in February.
The club would like to thank Michael for his work over the 18-month period where he guided the club to ninth place in the Barclays Premier League and the Capital One Cup trophy.
Everyone at Swansea City Football Club would like to wish Michael all the best for the future.
Both parties will not be issuing any further comments on this matter.

Linked means absolutely nothing, just paper talk. In the same way as The Swans' are linked to dozen's of player's and none come to fruition.

He cannot promise that Valley,he is totally obsessed with Laudrup.

He is in awe of him.

Laudrup was the most successful manager the Club has ever had.

Do you seriously think no-one will ever again want to reflect on that?

What next then, ban any mention of Toshack,Martinez,Rodgers,Sousa,Flynn, and any other ex managers you can think of,,simply because one person doesn't like Laudrup?

Well, that's not going to happen, not as long as I can breathe.

Shame we don't know what the settlement is, but if what some were saying that the club did no wrong, why is there a settlement. Ah well.

The cloak of secrecy over Laudrup's dismissal and settlement does more harm than good, irrespective of the right or wrong of it. The rumours will just rumble on and on...

If anything it plays into the hands of those who were pro Laudrup, as if what the club said was true, that he was in breach of his contract, then surely no settlement would ever have been made.

So does it mean the club made a mistake? Why the secrecy? It makes no sense.

    Laudrup was sacked mid contact.
As a consequence, the Club had to honour the balance.
By coming to a settlement,I deduce that Laudrup has accepted a lower payment than he could legitimately be entitled to.

Who exactly thought that the Club "did no wrong"?

The initial statement was that ML was in breach of his contract. If that had been the case, they would not have had to pay any settlement.

If you were in the right, would you be happy paying a settlement for someone breaching a contract, because I know I certainly wouldn't. As if I was in the right, I would not have to pay a penny, and I would make damn sure I didn't pay a penny.

I agree with the likelihood of Laudrup accepting a lower payment, but I do agree with the club in sacking Laudrup, though I do not agree with the way it was done, but then isn't it just the way the Welsh do things? I'm Welsh by the way..............<laugh>

Agreed. His time was up,sadly, but the management didn't cover themselves with glory in their handling of his dismissal.

It seems that the management may have been found out by this settlement.

Laudrup has stated that he was sacked by e mail, having been told his job was safe and having shaken hands with Huw Jenkins.

Extremely poor management, and they now have to pay the price.

Coming into this as an observer... doesn't the whole thread appear to be based on links from paper talk? What I mean is shouldn't the original comment be shown the same contempt as showed in your comment above?

But they had to balance the price of compensation against the consequences of relegation.
