Thanks Yorkie, I have them on the list. I read the website for the petite train first of all in French, then noticed that there was an English version. "In view of the exchanges in temperature between sea level and the mountain heights, it is advisable to take war clothing." Do they charge extra for hand grenades?
USA for Mrs HF and I. A belated honeymoon, flying back on our 2nd anniversary. Taking in a Phillies game whilst we're there amongst other things.
Well the area is filled with basque separatists! You must see a pelota game too if you can..... they have them all over... including Ascain
I suggest looking at holidays in summer in places that are ski resorts in winter. After I finished my A-levels, all my friends wanted to do the going to a party resort thing and they invited me but I'd already made my own plans. I went to Seefeld in Austria, had a peaceful week, found a hidden cafe near some woods and a lake and by pure chance managed to pick the week when they had the town fair! I don't know how many ski resorts do summer holidays, so there may be a limited choice.
Where should i look for the Mauritius deals WY, although we would want to explore the whole island and not be captive in one hotel.
Most if not all, plus non ski resorts too. Get the Crystal lakes and mountains brochure for ideas or check www.
Hi Scully For package tours I have been looking at British Airways Holidays, Vigin Holidays and First Choice. As most offer the same hotels, the only real difference seems to be the flights. BA and First Choice have direct flights from Gatwick, but Virgin's flights mean a change in The Gulf and it makes for a much longer overall flight - so was going to avoid it. At 11 hours for a direct flight is long enough! If you don't want to be stuck in one Hotel, you can see if BA Holidays or Virgin do a Fly Drive package and then book your own hotels. If not, then it's book the flights and car hire directly and then sort out the hotels - I use Expedia to sort out Hotels, but there are loads of Hotel websites these days.
For flights I use Skyscanner For hotels I always used Trivago but for Cardiff this weekend I used hotelscombined which was very good If you start finding that the prices keep going up each time you search the same holiday/flight etc, then clear your cookies. These sites remember your searches so realise if you are after a particular holiday, so it ups the price each time you search!
A few others walking up...slightly more on the way down...the majority took the train both ways. I'd parked further along the valley so added another 6k or so to the walk. Very thirsty by the time I got back to the gite...
I might be done for fraud on this thread. We are going to take a short break in a week or so on the Isle of Wight. Thing is we are renting in Selsey and can see the IoW from a little stroll from our house - and to get there we have to go to Southampton for a ferry - which is further away from here than the hotel we are staying in.
Used to go camping in Abbots Langley as a kid so you're not alone. I do love the fact that the ferry port is further away than your destination though! It's a bit like cheap flights - went to Cork once and the flight was cheaper than the train ticket to Stanstead......
Only camping I ever did in this country was with our junior school - went to Cuffley Camp - somewhere near Enfield I believe
One of my more recent trips via National Express to The Vic cost me £20 return from Inverness to London. I was pleased with myself for getting such a bargain - until I found it cost more than that to get from Victoria Bus Station to Watford Junction...
I went to Cuffley Camp with junior school as well Leo. I remember sleeping on a straw filled mattress.
This is a plug I know. But it is a well-worthy travel plug! If you want to rent a beautiful villa in Portugal, 30 mins North of Faro, fully furnished with a kitchen and a living room, with a pool, a patio with a BBQ and 3 bedrooms [2/double beds, 1 with 2 single beds] (it holds 6 people comfortably, 8-with 2 on an additional sofa bed and at a big push-10 with 2 on sofas) P.M. me... You will need a hire car, however, it is beautiful Algarve countryside near to the coast. It is amazingly relaxing there away from the crowds, reasonably priced and well located with a short drive to most places...
Yes, Cuffley. All the different camping areas had names, ours was Silver Street. Farting competitions in the tent at night, and freezing cold. Character forming??
