Are Rangers back in the top flight of Scotland already? Didn't they have to drop down four leagues a few years back.

    Amusing...

... On Chelsea board they are voting for best ever Premier league striker and the player with the most votes...

Drogba! lol... Very good player for a couple of years there (was crap for his first few season though). Definitely not in the top tier of strikers. I understand their seeing him as such though- they've had really bad luck with strikers... (a bit like us in the gap between Owen and Torres). No surprise they tend to sensationalise the one very good striker they had.

Compared to some of the strikers they've had he must look like a world class talent.

Hmmmm best ever..... Prem striker? Does that include cl success?

Henry is patently more successful in terms of goals and prem wins but deigns did win a lot and crowned his time robbing bayern with that late goal in the cl....

In fairness he's got to be up there but surely we have to say Henry and even the most livid cannot deny the wins of Rooney and Ronaldo either

    I'd go:

Henry (at his peak- probably best player ever in the PL for any position)
Ronaldo (not really a striker- was fantastic for United- got even better at Real)
Shearer (So good, for so long in the PL)
Ruud Van Horse Face (Have to admire his ability to score goals- even if he didn't do much else).

If Suarez can put in a couple more years like this one he could climb the list into the top 3. Doesn't really deserve it after one year though. Torres was world class for a couple of seasons (And really in the PL Drogba only had a couple of good seasons- he was crap a long time before he became good... a real late-bloomer).

Sherringham was pretty good until he got to about age 70- then the last few decades he slowed down.

No one on here will forget Fowler.

I find that a bit harsh - he really disappointed in his first year, but I seem to remember him picking up after that.

You forgot Ngog in the list too. :emoticon-0105-wink:

    Henry for me

He scored 24 league goals plus, for 5 consecutive seasons and given what kind of goals he tended to score, that's some feat

  11. He was no Kevin Phillips though :bandit:

Henry was one of the best finishers I've ever seen - and consistently scored **** loads of goals season after season, has to go down as PL best striker imo.

Drogba has a LESS than 1 goal in 2 game average for his whole time at Chelsea. That's usually the benchmark for a good (lead) striker for a club.

Almost all the best strikers get above the goal every other game ratio. He was closer to 1 goal every 3 games his first few seasons. (and 1 goal every 5 games in his last season)

Despite being at Chelsea for 8 seasons he only twice managed to score more than 12 goals in a season. Both those times he netted over 20 and was phenomenal...

He only once had less than 24 league games in a season (about 2/3rds of all games)- so it's not some statistical anomaly because he was always injured and didn't get games.

The two seasons he was good he was great- the other 6 seasons he was rather inconsequential.

He is remembered for two good seasons. 2 Good seasons out of 8 does not make him deserve to be considered one of the all time greats imo.

Henry and Ronaldo. As ronaldo isnt really a striker I would give it to Henry.

    Henry
    Shearer
    RvN
    Di Santo....

It's actually the top 5 strikers, not the best striker

Drogba always turned up in the big games. His scoring record at Wembley is crazy, plus those CL final goals.

I love Suarez, but he does struggle in games against top notch defences, where as Drogba [when he felt like it] was a different level.

Though I would go with Henry. It is easy to forget how good he was.

Yet the player who has equaled the record for goals in a 38 game season and record amount of goals, without taking penalties, is not there?

Despite that, it is Henry and by a mile imo.
