if thats the case, then why did the board no consult the players first? everything needs to be considered..I think there is more to this appointment and we dont know the half of it yet, if we see a mass exodus then its pretty obvious the board has gone against everyones wishes, inc the players, i cannot think for the life of me why they would take such a massive gamble after the BG saga.

Ok, so the West Brom game is one of the worst performances I can remember.

The football I saw over the last few games was a hell of a lot better. Sure we lost to Fulham, but it's a game we could, and in my opinion should, have won. Liverpool and Chelsea were decent performances too.

I know that's not a lot to go on, and maybe I am trying to clutch at straws, but
If we are set up to win games, as Adams will set us up to do, then surely that is what the fans have been crying out for?

    Ruddy
    Martin, Bennett, Turner, Olsson
    Bennett, Howson, Johnson, Redmond
    Becchio, Hooper

Doesn't seem too improbable does it?

Looks like a pretty decent side to mount a promotion challenge to me, and that's without spending any money, which we undoubtedly will.

Come on you bunch of miserable ****ing ****ers, let's see some positive thinking!

I don't think our football was that much better personally, and the previous manager had plenty of those games that we could, and almost certainly should have won but for the fine margins of football.

I don't think we can judge much on those last five games, particularly when you consider who we were up against. I think we should draw a line under that, give him the summer to build a squad and start to instil a more positive, attacking mentality into it and only then can we have any real idea about how next season is going to go. It is a gamble, nobody is denying that, but sometimes gambles do come good.

I agree the football was better, but that was hardly difficult. Just because Neil Adams made some improvements on a failing side does not mean he should be ahead of others who have done far more.

The evidence is just not there. Delia Smith and her ****wit of a husband should just piss off and leave McNally alone.

It's a ****ing joke, the board are making mugs out of us all, how many times do they get things wrong? I'm sure they'd be quite happy if we became a mid table Championship club.

One point from a possible fifteen - and he then gets the role full time?
If this whole thing is a wind up it's a ****ing tidy one! <doh> <yikes>

He apparently plays attacking football we only scored in one of the five games. The other thing that worries me is he'll use our squad for his little youth team experiment so we'll have lightweight players like the Murphy's (who in my opinion should go on loan) play every other game.

Crystal balls are out in abundance tonight aren't they. I'm assuming all the doom and gloom merchants are as we speak placing substantial bets on relegation to League 1?

They are just questioning the decision to appoint Neil Adams. There are other managers out there who'd be less of a risk and, on paper, have a better set of credentials. It's an unnecessary risk and people are querying that decision. It all seems perfectly reasonable to me. I don't think anyone has made any predictions for relegation.

To attack this from a slightly different angle, who's bright idea was it to give him a 3 year contract???

I can't imagine Neil Adams had any other club in the football league interested in his services, we were in competition with nobody! An "average championship manager" currently lasts less than a season, and we're not even sure if we've got an average manager.

If this appointment goes well, he'd get rewarded with a new deal and he wouldn't be out of pocket, if it goes badly, then we've probably thrown away 2 seasons worth of a managers salary. It just seems like we're being little old Norwich making sure we look after one of our own if things go badly.

Wow, just woke up to this! Surgeryman and KIO were right - we go for the cheap option with an existing link to CR.

Bizarre decision. A very big risk when people like Mackay and Zola were around (and we know for a fact that Zola was interested in the job).

Dorset - it's all very well saying we must get behind the team now and so on. Of course everyone will. But underneath that external show of support there will now be massive doubt and frustration. If we don't get off to a good start, I think we're in for another rocky season, not just in terms of results but also in terms of the relationship between the Board and the fans. They've made a big rod for their own backs.

Also, if this was pushed through against his wishes, I am scared that DM might resign (despite what he said this week about going nowhere).

Now its time for the players to get vocal and show us why they have appointed NA, Tettey has apparently committed himself to the cause.... lets have some more please and if it means we are keeping Hooper i would be perfectly happy with that. Im sure over the coming days once the dust settles we might see some logic behind appointment, but after being left in the dark and hanging by a thread for so long with who might come right now it feels like an anti climax. Acceptance has to come or we are doomed <ok>
