Good luck to Neil, always liked the fella and thought he was the best manager they have had in years. Equally delighted that Henry Clarkson and Jackie McNamara are tipped for the job.
We Tims can comfort ourselves in the knowledge that whoever we get as a new manager, he will never be anywhere near as inept as the clueless, Judas donkey curently managing (And I use that word in it's loosest possible sense) your company.
McNamara has already ripped the pish out of him twice in his season and a half in charge of DU. please log in to view this image
Lenny quits because he fears he can't make it through the qualifiers and still Timothy wants to talk about Rangers
My Irony meter just blew right off the scale reading the words of a Rangers fan fulminating on a thread about Neil Lennon. You are the one suggesting potential new managers and welcoming them as as if they are pre destined for failure, i'm simply pointing out that your Manager is not only a failure, he's only in it for the money, I doubt that's an accusation that can be levelled at the two people you've mentioned. That's called a reply, that's the purpose of a football forum. And as for "Timothy". Just
It was reported on Radio Scotland his reason for walking away was over fears about financing for next season. Denied by the board of Celtic's operating company. There's a nice advertisement to Celtic's next manager And, oh aye, it's always Rangers
Read the same thing in the Record, might be true I suppose but the only person who could have told them was Lenny himself. It could be true but if what Celtic have said is true then Lenny will be helping choose his successor, that would suggest they are parting on good terms which would contradict the "lack of funds" theory. I suspect he's not even got a job lined up, he's hoping someone will take a punt and get him out of Scotland, I personally would not blame him and it's not as if he's skint.
Lenny will help them choose his successor. please log in to view this image Talk about delusions of grandeur.
I daresay he was asked by the club, it makes sense to me, he's been a success and the fans like his brand of football, why not see if he has any ideas?
I think it may well be true. Celtic's board operate on being financially viable (unlike others ) and reading between the lines it seems Lenny has sussed he won't get any further forward on the budget they are giving him for players. Sure, he'll win the league next season, and will continue his ****e cup record, but Europe next season will be a bust. Reporting so far as I have heard about it (Radio Scotland news) is that he doesn't have a job lined up. He's going to the Word Cup as a pundit. In the meantime he's going to wait to see what offers come his way. And it seems there is interest in him in the Nigel leagues. Apparently he's done punditry down there too. His biggest bargaining chip is the fantastic last 16 Champions League run when ye's beat Barca to get there. I actually wish Lenny well. He was a **** and I hated him as a player for all the right reasons - he caused us problems. As a manager, and still a young manager at that, he has acquitted himself very well and I have no doubt about his future employment.
I'm sad he's leaving but I was like that with O'Neill, Strachan and Wim Jansen too, i'll get over it but if we get a manager half as good as he's been tactics wise then we will be doing well. Owen Coyle possibly, but he would not be my preferred option, Jackie Mac? Too soon, Henke the same. Moyes for me or Maybe at a pinch Malky McKay, most other decent candidates are way above our pay grade.
Your definition of success must be wildly different from mine. He won 1 league title of any note and was a serial underachiever in the cups. He's hardly Fergie.
