Yep, I'd be well up for that. Ba would score hatfuls for any team that gives him games & service, quality striker.
Why the **** would Demba Ba come to us? He's a Champions League level player. If and when he leaves Chelski it'll be to a European team that's in the Champions League. Just because some limp-wristed lazy-arsed journo makes mischief doesn't mean it's remotely in anyone else's head, other than his. Come on guys, let's stick to realistic rumours, not pie in the sky ****.
How on earth is he a Champions League level player? He's 28, has played for one CL team and barely figured, he's managed 33 games in a season and a half, with only 7 goals. Which CL team is gonna come and bite on that? He's a very good upper mid-table striker, nothing more. He'd be superb for a team like us, or his former clubs, Toon, West Ham, he doesn't have the game to play consistently for a top team. Aguero, Dzeko, Suarez, Sturridge, RVP, Rooney... Is Ba in that company? Not close.
I wasn't really thinking of English teams mate. I was assuming (and maybe getting ahead of myself in my argument) that there'd be European teams (Greek, Turkish, etc) that would pay silly money for an ex-Chelski player, and who would be more attractive to the player and his agent, than a lower half PL team in the north east.
Aye, I just don't think he's of that standard, personally. Even if you look at Turkish clubs, Fenerbache, the CL qualifiers have Moussa Sow, Emmanuel Eminike & Pierre Webo, Gala have Drogba, Yilmaz and Bulut. A Greek team, yeah Olimpiacos could use him, but they couldn't possibly get near us on wages, and we already know Ba is a mercenary from past history. I don't see us signing him, don't get me wrong, but I do see him signing for a club around our level. I'd like him to go back to West Haaaaam, and us to sign Carrol.
Really??? Demba Ba will go to whoever gives him the biggest payday. If no big European teams fancy a slice of him then I can see him leaving for Qatar/UAE for another silly pay packet.
Southampton closing in on ustari http://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sp...rss&utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter
Yeah, I was just surprised cos of the Geordie thing. With Poyet's connections, looking at Spurs, Chelsea, Uruguay in particular... any realistic permanent/loan targets? I wonder if he fancies a lend or even a buy of Moses, maybe Dawson, Holtby, Van Ginkel?
**** knows mate, Gus has given nothing away, he's on the back foot transfer wise after January, so I'm hoping Congleton is a wizzard!

The news coming out of West Ham this week is that Sam Allardyce has been told to start his side playing more entertaining football. While ‘old dog, new tricks’ immediately springs to mind, this has two reported implications for Sunderland. Firstly, Mauro Zarate, the striker linked with a move to Wearside for long periods of last summer, is high on Allardyce’s wishlist. The Daily Mail briefly credit us with an interest, although it remains to be seen whether this is just regurgitating old news, and the article seems more focused on the Velez Sarsfield striker’s wife than anything else. Secondly, Allardyce’s quest for entertainment has placed the Hammers in pole position to land Jack Colback following the expiry of his contract, according to the Mirror. Everyday it’s a new club in ‘pole position’, so lets just see what happens with this one. Apparently, Sunderland are short of strikers ahead of the new season, which will see the Black Cats make a move for Chelsea striker Demba Ba. Wages alone are likely to make this an unlikely one, regardless of the fact three, if not all four, strikers on Wearside look committed to prove themselves next year. Similarly, Bafetimbi Gomis is another striker being targeted by Sunderland, although his reported £100,000-a-week wage demands have quickly put water on those flames. Gomis is a free agent, and a move to Newcastle looks far more a possibility, and that says something! At the other end of the pitch, Oscar Ustari continues to be linked with Lazio, with Southampton a new name thrown into the mix. This does, however, appears to be a mistake, with the report, in Italian, claiming Ustari will meet ‘his Southampton entourage’ this week. As you were then.
