Sorry mate, my reply came over as sarcastic when it wasn't meant to be. What I mean is that we'd 'like to know' not 'need to know' ........ unless you're talking about the club which is different. I wish I hadn't mentioned it now. (That wasn't sarcastic either.) **** it, the more I try not to sound sarcastic the worse it's getting
its sound mate. i just think we need to be planning for the new season and need to know whether he will be here or not. hopefully he stays as he seems to be coming good and all the development we have put into him will be wasted
I think the situation with his contract was more difficult to avoid than people believe. During the last close season window we had Cattermole looking like he was history. We had erratic midfield players like Vaughan & Gardner so Colback looked vital. If he wouldn't sign a contract, or leave, then we had no option but to play him. This is just from memory so I could be wrong.
i think the club should have tried a bit more to get him to sign earlier. i understand that it would have been difficult to get him to sign with the uncertanty about where we would be playing next year. there is just no way the club should let promising young players, who are part of the first team squad, get down into the last year and risk losing them for nothing when we have developed them for years
If reports are to believed and he's deliberately dragging it out towards contract expiry, then **** the little carrot top. If it's press bollocks, then I'm indifferent, cos he's alright, but not nearly what we need to progress. Either way, I can't get concerned at the thought of him going, he's exactly the kind of player we have falsely claimed is ok cos he's 'consistent', Consistently average is simply not good enough.
i dont think he was deliberatly dragging it out, just there was uncertanty on wheteher we would stay up. he has been decent this season and is definatly worth another contract to see if he can get better. plus its always good to have a versitile player in the squad
I do think he's worth keeping, I just think that we need to step it up, we simply cannot have another season like we just did. Is Jack good enough to be first XI in a top 10 team? Cos if the answers no, then his contract needs to reflect that. For me, the answers no.
Keeping Jack is important for us...he appears to love our club and wear his heart on his sleeve...we must retain him!!!
