I disagree on most of your views regarding players and this is no exception. A player that brings others into the game can be vital. He has finished most of the chances he's had very well, it's not like he's had a load of Graham-esque howlers. He is a technically very gifted player and has all the qualities needed to be a great striker. The one real area he is let down by is positioning, but that is something that can be worked on and something for which I don't believe he is getting enough help.
Whereas I respect your opinion Wilson these sort of comments were made about Altidore and Proschwitz. The Sunlun fans were making similar excuses about Jozy being a 'hold-up' player during the season but have finally given up on the poor bloke. Nice guy but he hasn't got it at this level. My opinion on Sagbo is based on the fact that there is simply no end result in his game. We cannot afford to carry players who are below average at this level and, sadly, he is one. Trouble is there is nobody else on the books (I think Matty Fryatt will go to Forest) and my opinion of Aluko is well documented on these boards in that he is a "Bound for Glory" player rather than a team man. The quality of our side means that they have to work for each other and not as individuals. Like any supporter I will cheer on any player wearing a Hull City shirt and I do hope Sagbo and Aluko can come out next season with all guns blazing and prove me wrong but I just can't see it mate.
Absolutely !!! If you could find the stats I think that if you look at minutes played per goal scored, Matty Fryatt was our best striker by a long shot this past season
Sagbo and Fryatt have completely different attributes IMO.I would keep both and look to strengthening the areas we all know are weak, a decent left back is a must, Livermore if the price is right, if not and depending on how much Steve has in his "war chest" Sidwell or Redmond. It pains me to say it but Snodgrass would be a decent signing.
I am with you on this one, also another central defender like Lescott wouldn't go amiss, to have 3 at the back Chester/Davies/Lescott would look a good defensive line up.
Apologies if this is already on here somewhere, iv'e not seen it. I really hope he stays, and i think he will.... http://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/spor...decision-to-make-over-tigers-future-1-6630581
You need to re-watch Sagbo's games against Southampton, Everton, Brighton and Sheffield United then. Also, watch the game against Liverpool (our win against them at the KC), at points he's unplayable. I think he's had a really good season, his sending off aside he's been a real handful for defenses to get to grips with. He won't bag you 20 or even 10 goals a season, but when he's been brought on he gives you that extra edge, drifting out wide (which is a problem when he was deployed as a lone CF) and I think he's been excellent. For what he cost, I think we've got the best out of him. If Brucey doesn't think so, then fair enough, his contract is up next season and he can leave. But I don't think he will, I think he'll do well. I respect your opinion of him, but thank Christ you aren't in charge of our team. If you've written off Aluko, Sagbo and Fryatt, what exactly does a striker have to do to win you round?
Thread smells largely of sentimentality and lack of ambition. If we are to progress, we need better than Fryatt, and probably Sagbo too. Fryatt is a very good Championship level player. Not meaning to knock him; I've enjoyed watching him for us, but that's his level. Jury out on Sagbo. Like others have said, maybe he will be ready for the PL next season. On the other hand, a bit like Prozzie was in the Championship, he probably isn't up to it. We need another striker to complement / challenge Long and Jelavic, and I'd be really surprised if we didn't sign one.
Sagbo is a forward, he had to play most of his games on the left due to Aluko and Brady's injuries. Once they're fit and he plays in his natural position he will run defenders ragged as well as bringing other team members into the game.
In principle most including me would agree with you, but what has to be taken into account is what money is available. At the moment it is more important to get IMHO, and good centre back, left back, left side mid-field and tie down Livermore.
Did you go to wembley? Do you remember who scored in the last few minutes away at Brighton. Do you remember who stopped the rot in the semi final when Sheffield were 1 nil up .?
Although I think Sagbo can be an important player for us still if used correctly, the examples you've used are against League 1 and Championship opposition, which doesn't really prove that he's PL quality.
