Without my yellow tinted specs I can't imagine why Lennon would choose a Championship club over a PL one.
Could be, a lot are saying he wouldn't get a PL job as no experience but he has Champions League experience and that must count for something.
Seems everytime we think we know whats going on something new happens and it's all blown open again. The delay suggests that more is going on but I reckon its just finalising things with Malky. Did they give a new deadline for the appointment or is it just when it's done?
DM and lennon are friends, we have a much healthy bank balance, we have a very strong squad, Gary hooper, the list goes on... fingers crossed
Nah they said soon but no confirmed day. I wonder if this announcement was holding things up. If it is about money at Celtic it could be he wanted to clear up the situation there before starting to consider other jobs and we wanted him enough to wait until he decided if he was staying it going before we made an offer to anyone. The next question is do WBA consider him too great a risk for the PL any would they be willing to back him with money. As has been said can't see Fulham changing manager again and I can't see Leicester getting rid if Pearson, however if they do he'd be an excellent candidate too.
Then again, I suppose his agent is hardly going to come out and say; "Yes, Neil has been in talks with Norwich City for the last two weeks", while he was still contracted to Celtic with no permission granted ?
This indeed. It's a way of avoiding compensation. A bit shady though, we got done for Lambert doing this.
Fingers crossed, not getting my hopes up just yet though. If West Brom want him then he'd probably choose them. Think what gets me really excited about the prospect of Lennon coming here is that he's leaving Champions league football and guaranteed top spot finish in the Scottish League to manage somewhere else, that shows ambition. Also more of a chance keeping Snodgrass and Hooper.
The rationale seems to go that if you want the job with a top 8 English Club - which most managers the world over do - you won't get it with management experience limited to Scotland because of the lack of competition there. Most Premiership clubs are reluctant to recruit from the same source for the same reasons so the best bet is to take on a good Championship Club, get it promoted and then you stand a chance of getting a top job.
Possibly, but the delay may not directly involve Lennon. It may be that Mackay has dragged his heels a little with us because he is holding out for the Celtic job.
Not sure if that was tongue in cheek, but managers and players tend to be a bit more hard headed about these decisions than us emotional fans.
Cheeky photo used by Sky Sports reporting on his departure from Celtic. I assume we must have had a pre-season friendly v Celtic while he was their manager? Subliminal selling please log in to view this image
