West Ham boss Sam Allardyce is close to clinching his first summer signing by snapping up Jack Colback.

The Sunderland midfielder,24, is out-of-contract and has failed to agree terms with the Black Cats.

And the Hammers are now in pole position to beat Swansea to his signature.

Colback made 42 appearances for the Sunderland last season, scoring three goals.

He has been at the Stadium of Light all of his career, but had two spells on loan with Championship side Ipswich Town early in his career.

It will be another boost to Allardyce after the Upton Park board opted to keep him this week.

If that's true way to **** up a promising career. Big Sam will never be able to play a philosophy which will complement Jack. He'll probably play him DM.

If Colback does that he's resigned himself to being a PLodder ....... I've lost interest in him tbh, sign Livermore instead.

If Colback goes there then he will not improve as a player. hopefully it's all rubbish.

To be truthful he's had long enough to improve as a player and I doubt he has much more to learn.

His goal tally over 4 seasons is poor and he seems to think being a defensive midfield player is beneath him.

He's 24 years old so he must be a slow learner.

Poyet asked him to make runs into the box and it worked against West Brom.

He'd learn a lot more from Poyet than Allardyce who's just a slimmer prettier Steve Bruce <laugh>

He's been hiding since saying he wants Poyet out and Sunderland would lose all the last 7 games of the season. He said he's always right <laugh>

I know its clubcall, so not exactly reliable, but.....

    http://www.clubcall.com/sunderland/black-cats-made-to-wait-1-1726370.html?

Sunderland star Jack Colback has postponed a decision on his future with the Black Cats as the club do their best to keep him. Sunderland are thought to have offered him a significantly better contract than the one he was offered last summer as they look to keep their squad together at the Stadium of Light. The midfielder is one of three out of contract players who Gus Poyet would like to keep at the club, the other two being Seb Larsson and Phil Bardsley, but he has not yet decided what to do regards their futures. He is now postponing his decision until after his honeymoon and will take further advice, with West Ham, Aston Villa and, more controversially, Newcastle, are all keen to sign Colback.

My mind is quite clear, I'm saying his best chance of learning more, and progressing as a player, is with Poyet ....... not saying he definitely will.

I doubt he has much more to learn but I hope I'm wrong.

At 24 he should've been able to establish his place and contribute more.

No one tbh, Bernie Ecclestone is living proof of that ...... people like him remind me of that daft 'Mrs Merton' joke.

"So Debbie, what first attracted you to multi-millionaire Paul Daniels?" <laugh>

Lampard was rubbish when he was around 24 year's old pal. he was a slow learner so maybe Colback is.

By that age he'd played for England, qualified for europe with West Ham and finished 3rd top scorer from midfield.

He'd also signed for Chelsea and played every game in a season.

I wish Colback was that rubbish.

BTW, you stated Parker wouldn't start another game for Fulham and laughed at me when I said he would.

You were wrong then as well <ok>

All I'm saying is Lampard wasn't that good early on in his career & he was a slow learner.

I was wrong about parker so what. they put him back in the team & what a surprise they get beat.

I'm learning how things work on here and it's really quite simple, how didn't I spot it before <doh>

    1) Poster A spouts ****.
    2) Poster B responds with facts.
    3) Poster A replies with insults.

This goes on until poster A is banned <doh>
