The Standard doesn't get much right. The Tottenham Journal is usually in the know about you guys, or they always used to be. They seem to think you're getting Neil Lennon.

That bit from the Standard is their get out clause. I don't believe MP is their number one candidate...he is a kind of back up.

Poch is not the man to take Spurs anywhere. Levy must surely know that. Countless managers of his standard and above have failed to get Spurs above fifth, and they need to do what most teams need to do to get anywhere to see progress: hire above their station. Poch will go there only if he genuinely wants out of Saints for some reason. If he goes, Poch slightly wins (rich contract), but Spurs (or Levy) will almost certainly lose (can't afford to tread water another season). Saints will also lose, but mainly due to definitely losing a few key players. In terms of managerial appointments, we could go better, but I fear the Board going meat and potatoes with their choice, and influx of various managers over the next few seasons. Poch needs to sort it out and send a message to Saints fans if he wants to remain in good grace, as he is clearly a bit down the Spurs list, and if he is angling for a move that doesn't come off, there will be a shortage of goodwill for him from our end.

 

As I said above, I don't think MP is nailed on for Spurs, though I suspect he could do a job for them. However, although nothing may be happening and Mauricio may be here next season, he isn't committing now as we are hearing nothing. I don't blame the board as I am sure they have tried and made offers as they would like nothing better than to have their manager nailed down. I certainly don't subscribe to a common view on SaintsWeb that the board don't care and have all got their feet up. This makes me suspect that we will hear absolutely nothing new for most of the summer...MP will just wait it out in case a better job comes along, then probably still be here net season by default. Disappointing.

 

Who wants to be the ninth manager in 13 years? Bit like being the ninth husband of a Palm Springs gold digging beauty. And besides, spurs aren't that beautiful.
