Think GC has a Lexus as well, I've never fancied it. No doubt they are quality motors like.

My car history has been rather chequered:

    Tolbot Horizon
    Hilman Imp
    Golf Mk 1 GL
    Golf Mk 2 GTi
    Hillman Imp
    Porsche 911 Turbo

    then I got married

    another Hillman Imp

    then we had kids

    Mazda Xedos 6
    VW Beetle Covertible
    yet another Hillman Imp
    Renault Scenic
    Fiat Multipla
    VW Golf Convertible
    Ford Mondeo

I'm thinking it's about time to buy another Imp, but they're getting a bit harder to come by now. I always fancied a Californian/Stiletto/Chamois Coupe version.

I drive a company car so choice is limited.

Just taken delivery of a new Volvo S60 D3, very pleasantly surprised!!

Very quick comfortable and looks great with Inscription Crystal White paint and I specced bigger wheels.

Toyota corolla 1.4 heap of crap! Does the job and fits the family in. Not quite up there with the Mercs and BMWs mentioned! Cheap and cheerful

I like the new Volvo's the R-Design lines look very smart. If I ever had another company car I'd probably look at Volvo first to be honest.

My next car will be a family car, I can't stand those people carriers though so I'll probably go for a Landrover Discovery, a car I'd probably be happy to keep for 10 years.

Don't know what sort of car you're after, but I fancied a cheap convertible that would still be quite practical for the family and the Golf's been really good for that. Here's a couple for sale up there that are similar to mine

At the other extreme, I drive past a McClaren garage every day, and these are nice, but a lottery win may be required first:

McClaren too pricey. Those golfs too old. Vauxhall Cascada is pobably the best cheapish new thing out there at the moment. Shame its a Vauxhall.

I had an Escort RS Turbo, it was alright, a few problems.

A Peugoet 1.9 gti, cracking little car.

Then i got a Renault 5 turbo, the ****er. It was off the road more than on it, cost a fortune, total piece of ****, yet out of the 3 was my favourite...when working.

Back in the day the hot hatch was killer mate, that 1.9 pug GTi was amazing. People nowadays going on as if the Cooper S is fun to drive, they've not got a clue unless they've had a blast in a tin can pug, one of the most fun cars I've had a shot in.

I'd say the best hot hatch on the market today overall, is probably the Golf GTi, it's the pedigree of the car that puts it out in front of the rest, forget about just power for a minute and there's very little competition in it's class, but like I was saying to Nads, the new cars have had the fun element removed and replaced with computer-style fun and more power, it's not the same.

The Golf GTI is far far too sober. Ford currently have this corner of the market sewn up in the ST versions of the Focus and Fiesta.
