Really!? I would like us to sign him for sure but as recent stats reveal he is a 15 goal a season striker in Ligue 1...100k a week!?

I know we wouldn't have to pay a transfer fee but that is taking the mick is you as me. He's at least got to prove he can cut it in the prem before negotiating a pay packet like that.

    http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/newcastles-bafetimbi-gomis-transfer-chase-3584301

Lyon striker who has been on Toon's radar since dinosaurs walked the earth is a free-agent and is being chased by clubs across Europe.

Newcastle have offered Lyon striker Bafetimbi Gomis £85,000 a week – but the Frenchman is demanding a whopping £100,000 weekly salary.

Gomis, 28, will become a free agent next month and is being chased by a string of clubs across Europe.

Sunderland, Swansea and West Ham are also interested, but all three have balked over the bulging pay-packet he is after.

The Swans are particularly keen as their current star striker, Wilfried Bony, is attracting serious interest from bigger clubs after scoring 25 goals in his first season at the Liberty Stadium.

Newcastle are long-term admirers of Gomis, having failed to conclude deals with his club for him during the last two transfer windows.

His current demands will test the resolve of owner Mike Ashley and the insistence of manager Alan Pardew that the Magpies' squad will be sufficiently improved this summer to ensure there is no repeat of the club’s abysmal end to the 2013-14 season.
Ashley and Pardew know that on-loan Queens Park Rangers striker Loic Remy, also a France international, does not want to extend his stay at St James’ Park.

Remy is likely to be sold to a top-six club, with Everton leading the chase.

Gomis hit 14 goals in 33 games in 2013-14, on top of the 30 scored for Lyon over the previous two campaigns.

A paltry £100k a week? He can't be all that good if that's all he wants.

Most depressing part of the story? Everton buying Remy.

These bastard clubs with ambition eh. What a bunch of ****s. Lose Lukaku, get Remy.

Gomis is in no way a 100k a week striker based on what little I have seen. We'd be better off thinking long term here. You could get two hungry young strikers from these isles with far better sell on values. Yes you'd have to pay fees but their wages combined wouldn't total what Gomis is allegedly demanding. These kind of deals make no sense either in the short term or long term. Just paper talk anyway of course so who knows.

He won't sign unless he is guaranteed a birthday cake. It will be written in all players contracts from now on.

How about an average salary with lots of performance bonus, a birthday cake, a remote control car, put him through his coaching badges (potential job for life), a sports direct uniform and a cuddly toy, for 3 year deal. Reviewed after 1 year with the average payment received for that year becoming the base payment for the next year with relevent extention agreed on these terms

If he doesn't like it, we take out the sports direct uniform and replace it with a huge mug instead and allow him the legendary "23" shirt - that'll clinch the deal.

I think the 23 shirt will be retired in honour of the guy that wore it for so long with so much distinction and pride.

If he's a 15 goal a year in French league player then £65K a week is way over the top. No thanks, he's proving to be nothing more than a mercenary with money the only objective.

Thing is we're arguably the club most desperately in need of players probably in all of Europe's top flights! And as the market appears to be more or less controlled by agents, we're going to be used more than any other club, particularly for the real dross around. It's not like Man U are going to be earmarked as a destination for Bent/Gomis.

    He wants £100,000?

Slightly more polite way of saying "**** off, I'd never consider joining that stale freakshow at Newcastle United in a million years"
