Next game Monday morning on Eurosport.... Joe played very well and Russell Osman had him as one of his top three England players
England won 4-1, Gomez gave away a penalty which was saved. He made up for it soon after running with the ball into to the Turkey penalty area, crossing to set up the equaliser.
Turned over to EuroSport just as England scored their equaliser... Was a lovely run from Gomez and upon seeing the penalty @ Half-Time felt it was a tad harsh on the lad Second Half he was a spectator especially after Turkey had a player Sent Off but was extremely impressed with the U17s (Only the second time I've watched Youth level after going to see a Charlton Youth Cup match at Park View Road a few seasons ago)... Patrick Roberts looks a lovely little player and it'll probably do him a world of good having Fulham in the Championship this year. Isaiah Brown doesnt look bad either but another Kasey Palmer... He made the West Brom First-Team a few years ago (albeit just the one appearance), then decided to leave for Chelsea and return to Youth / Reserve Team Football only to end up at a Football League side in a few years time, why do that especially with Saido Berahino breaking through this season at West Brom, Brown could also be playing regular First-Team Football right now
2-0 to England. Portuguese technically better but couldn't finish. England physically stronger as the game went on. We have been seeing that general pattern at youth level for the past fifty years. Gomez did well.
Well who would believe it....... ENGLAND WIN 4-2 ON PENALTIES!! (England missed none) Joe was very solid at CB
1 - 1 at full-time. No extra time. England put all four penalties away. Never thought I would live to see an England team win on penalties. They were slightly the better team. Gomez had little to do but did it well. My commentary was in French and within the first 5 minutes the commentators said "Gomez plays for a small club called Charlton Athletic. Chelsea and Liverpool are interested so he won't be staying there long". Bloody frogs, what do they know about the magnetic prestige of Bob Peeters?
Watched the second half. Thoughts on Gomez - reminds me a bit of Des Walker. Needs to bulk up though. Imagine how many Premier League scouts were present in that stadium last night, the Dutch had some very talented kids as well.
Nick, if you see him in real life.... he doesn't need to bulk up much He is much more like Paul Elliot than Des Walker..... can't help feeling that if Hart goes to Man Citeh then, by the end of the summer, that is where Gomez will be also
because that is where Hart is going and Man Citeh are a bit short of CB's Gomez is a ball playing CB who is very comfortable with the ball at his feet which is what reminds me of Paul Elliot, I do not remember DW being that good at ball control he was more a positioning CB in so far as he was rarely out of position
A month back there was a strong feeling/conern that Gomez might move to Chelsea. Since then that seems to have died down, but until he signs that contract it will still play on the mind.
