Most under-rated player on the planet: Liam Rosenior.

Every squad needs a player like this. An honest, hard-working, grounded pro who’ll do anything he’s asked. Rosenior has played on both the left and right side of defence, as an orthodox full-back and a wing-back, at times this season and has never looked out of place at the highest level.

    Biggest over-achiever: George Boyd.

Not only has Boyd made his way from working part-time in a sweet shop to playing in the top flight via Stevenage and Peterborough United but he’s done so despite a serious visual impairment. He missed out on a dream switch to Championship outfit Nottingham Forest because ‘he’s only got one eye’ but achieved his goals regardless after moving to the KC Stadium.

Assist of the season: Yannick Sagbo vs. Fulham (H).

Tom Huddlestone laid Rosenior’s throw-in into his path and Sagbo nonchalantly slid the best cross of the season in behind the Fulham defence and into Robert Koren’s path. It was a pass so beautiful, Paris Hilton watched it 1034 consecutive times on YouTube*.

Double-tackle of the season: Alex Bruce vs. Manchester United (H).

Bruce attempted to do England’s World Cup hopes the world of good by crunching Danny Welbeck and Tom Cleverley in a legendary double challenge. Having disposed Welbeck with a sensationally timed tackle, Bruce leapt up and hammered Cleverley in a hard but fair collision that left United crying foul and Danny Graham with a shot at goal. He did not score.

    Best diver: Fernando Torres (Chelsea).

Dishonourable mentions go to Man City’s Samir Nasri who ‘won’ a free-kick that Yaya Toure scored from at the Etihad and our own Ahmed Elmohamady, who embarrassed himself on several occasions with pathetic swan dives.

Torres is the ‘winner’ though. It may well have been the opening game of the season but I haven’t forgotten it. Torres threw himself over James Chester’s imaginary third leg and won a decisive free-kick. Fancy having to cheat to beat a newly-promoted side at home?

Worst refereeing decision: Michael Oliver (Spurs vs. Hull City)

This was diabolical. A cross from a nano-distance hits Elmohamady’s thigh and flies up onto his arm. Short of cutting off a limb, there was nothing he could have done to avoid it. Even the home crowd booed this decision (well they did not but should have.)

Best head-butt by an opposition manager: Alan Pardew.

There were numerous candidates for this award. Okay, I’m kidding, this was it. What a thing of beauty it was though. A lovely flick of the head, neck muscles straining, grey locks shining and an attempt to put the brakes on halfway when he thought to himself ‘What the hell am I doing?’.

Biggest surprise of the season: The Football Association say ‘no’ to Hull Tigers.

What more needs to be said? Just ‘Thank You’.

Best Dive: Brady vs West Ham. That was shocking. I still don't understand how he got away with it.

The worst refereeing decision was far and away West Ham away, followed by Swansea away. Spurs was third, because although it was a ludicrous decision the ball did hit his upraised hand in the box so there was at least something in it.

That double tackle was awesome - I'd say Bruce is probably the best tackler at the club.

I love this. I agree with most of them and it's witty too. I thought everyone had forgotten that Sagbo assist apart from me. Good effort Rick.

    Bollocks.

He's nowhere near as skilled as Chester in the tackle, who really is under-rated these days. I'd say Bruce is more of a last-ditch blocker. He'd put a bollock in the way if he had to.

PLT you're the only one who thinks he was pushed.

    It was a shocking dive.

I'd say Elmo vs Fulham should win best dive, because it was so bad that it's good.

Not like there's some football tournament happening over the summer...

Oh yeah, Scotland aren't in it. (Not that we'll be in it for very long anyways)

Are we even on about the same incident? The penalty; where he was pushed from behind while a cross was coming in? How can you even dive for that?

I know I keep saying but it really seems as though Allardyce came out with some **** about him diving and everyone just bought it.

Yes, the same one. It was so fortuitous.

You don't get that reaction from the most meagre of taps.

    1) Brady was pushed
    2) The only reason Bruce goes in for those huge challenges is because he reads the game poorly, Chezzy is a phenomenal reader of the game and never puts himself in a position where he has to lunge
