No way would be slag of Saints in public. As I said it will be mostly PR stuff like the "we shouldn't sell our players" line. It's easy to easy say when you aren't at the club any more.
worked for me. according to cortese the 5 year plan ended in 2012. we are(were) 18 months into the new 5 year plan. either the plan is aborted or pochettino didn't know about the plan. that "maybe" at the end I didn't like... hope to god he's not going to take over villa.
The most telling part was the end: "[...]everyone who knows me knows I am most interested in the Premier League." So can we expect to see him back in football soon? "Maybe," he says with a smile. When I suggest he looks like he knows something, he simply responds "maybe". In other words, he's either job hunting or in talks with an english club. More probably the former IMO
It's interesting he says that he didn't receive any written offers. I could have sworn I remember reading about him calling someone into his office (Morgan I think) and then proceeded to rip up something in front of him and told him he's going nowhere!
Yeah works for now to, weird that it did that. He says all right things I give him that, it maybe PR or maybe what he trully thinks I don't know which to believe. All I do know it is a great time to do a interview like this with the current board looking weak.
Also the bit about wanting to work in the Prem again. When will people start saying he is involved in a take over again?
I want to know what it is that's in the background of the video, behind the trendy fruit bowl. It looks like a Stone Age laptop you would see in something like The Flintstones
All and well and good, but the fact is that 1/3rd of our young talent that has been sold to major clubs since we were relegated from the Premiership has been sold when Cortese was CEO. I know AOC wanted to go and that we needed to extract top dollar for him, but by not acknowledging that these circumstances occur and just saying "no-one would be leaving if I was still there" is just egotistical nonsense.
if we can trace that story back to the player or him saying it, we can hold that against his account. otherwise, third party, hearsay.
I still don't know why there is a perception that the new management will be less tenacious than NC ("no, we are not selling, no.....oh, alright then) as I have seen no evidence for that. The fact that they have been better at honouring our past than NC does not indicate they care less for our future. The only issue is whether they feel that it would be better for the club to sell one player in order to improve the team overall whilst balancing the books. Basically, I trust these people to have the best interest of the club at heart. Not selling anyone would be a remarkable achievement and prove a lot of pundits wrong. What if they did it though? Toughness doesn't ways have to be abrasive.
I think the player himself said it. Like I said I think it was Morgan. However it must have been a good few years ago. When I was reading the interview it just triggered some faint memory, third party hearsay sounds more likely
People are still complaining about getting £15 million for an 18 year old with only one season of League One football under his belt? Okay then....
the problem is the only guy who has said anything convincingly is les reed. without questioning the motives of the owners, there is the question of aptitude. KL supposedly said the same about carrying on her father's business as he would have done at the former WIFAG factory. Within months that project was wound up, the staff released, and the building is now listed on the MALI website as available to let. The core business of mali seems to be up and running though after many months showing only a holding page on the group website. Cortese had a clear ambition which he communicated well to his employees. It's sad he didn't have the backing.
Same can be said for getting 30m+ for Shaw if he goes. He is a good player and may become great etc, but we aren't Man City or Real Madrid were we don't sell players if we get a good fee.
I agree with that...give them the benefit of the doubt because nothing has happened so far. However, I would like Mauricio's position clarified. I suspect that he is keeping his options open and they would rather let him do that than force his hand. After all, he still has that wretched year on his contract. I would love to keep everyone, but would be satisfied with MP staying and being given the funds from the sale of any rats who want to leave the ship. I would trust him to know what we want for his style of play (having conveniently forgotten Osvaldo). The recent sacking of Dodd and Williams needed some statement...I will excuse lack of details on legal grounds, but there should have been something on the OS. The whole thing seems weird...almost Cortese-esque. I will presume there was a strong reason, but, if not something truly shocking, surely a series of private meetings, a bit of compo and introduction of new coaches would have been the way forward. Saints fans are natural worriers, but we are also pretty sensible...look at the lack of riots when Adkins went. Our attitude was let's wait and see. Same when Cortese left. I know it is hard to discuss things that are still in flux...but a little titbit would be very welcome.
