i really didn't believe Cortese was behind all the media speculation , until now . Should make tomorrow afternoon a little more interesting .
Sheds some light on all the 'sources close to the club'. I don't think there is much doubt now that Cortese has been feeding info the the press either himself or through one of his followers. I pretty much expect his interview to say that Katarina was being advised badly and that others don't understand football clubs. The go onto detail what and why he was doing what he was and saying that the 'new' people have no ambition and cannot deliver what he could have done. TBH I quite like the new make up of Saints. We are back to being a family community club like the 'good old days' just this time we have money as well.
Not going to be good. Would be surprised if he doesn't say the owner didn't share the same vision as him and the PLAYERS. Which would all be well and good but for the fact he isn't the one who had to bankroll the dream.
I am giving the new board the benefit of the doubt and am waiting for them to back up the talk. I believe Katharina means well by us and will put even more money into the club, but the proof of the pudding is in the eating.
Was Ben Smith one of the journos that Cortese gave free private jet trips to on club money? I'm sure he'll ask Cortese lots of tough questions...
Oh yeah, for sure. Ashton, Smith and White. All of a sudden Cortese went from hating the media to having these three (1 newspaper, 1 multimedia news corp and 1 TV) journalists tucked firmly in his pocket, as far back as pre-season. You know, pre-season after Cortese 'almost left the club' in the summer beforehand. It's almost as if he showered them in gifts and treats and fed them the 'cult of Cortese' back then in return for some favours further down the line...
I have heard Luke say how close he was to Nicola...said the other players teased him about it. I accept that...but you'd have to think a lot of yourself to say he thought of you as a second father. Oh yes, it's Nicola.
Why is he doing this now? 1. See's a weakness(Lallana/Shaw rumours)in the current setup so decides to do a interview. 2. Wants to put his side across. 3. Is backing a take over bid and this is the first step of the PR train. 4. Needs a ego boost.
Probably out of resentment for KL, which is a bit pissy, but I still miss the stability we had under him. Interested to hear how he can annoy her without damaging his time here with us.

The words "meltdown" and "mass exodus" commonly used after his departure. Indeed. Frankly, I'm amazed at all the negative reactions. One never knows but one of the reasons why all the star players may remain at SFC is Cortese may advise them about staying together and achieving something truly great, as opposed to just making up the numbers in a glamour club. Still, you lot fear the worst, as usual.
