    Good Morning Everyone,

Stoke Boss Mark Hughes has told Jack Butland that he was rarely to blame for any of the goals he conceded whilst playing for the Whites!

Hughes has scrutinised every goal (he must have started weeks ago) and concluded that Butland was rarely to blame.

(Hughes apparently blames them all on Tom Lees)

Jamie Ashdown is not happy at the manner he was told that his services were no longer required. Reserve keeper, Ashdown found out on twitter that his contract was not going to be renewed.

“It would have been nice for someone to tell me what was going on. I was expecting to get released and there’s no bitterness or anything like that, but it was the way it was done.

“I got a letter a day after everyone else and that was my only gripe.

“These things need to be done by phone call, to be honest. Just so you get a response back and then you receive a letter obviously.

“There’s nothing worse than going out like that. “All you can do is wait and obviously I was waiting for a phone call from someone. “I’ve no problem with the decision. I’ve had an awful year and from their point of view, it’s probably the right thing to do.

    Is Ashdown right?

Leeds have put a price tag of 8m on Ross McDermott!!!

Not sure whether that means they would like to sell him, or whether they are trying to scare other clubs off?

    Thoughts?

Morning Elland. Think how Cellino has handled departures, includiong Ashdown's is not good. Doesn't bode well for the future. On Ross, £8m is a good place to start. Might create a bidding war. Also shows to others that we've now stopped being a selling club. If you want to buy our best players, you're going to have to cough up the full market value. Let's hope that this puts people off and we retain Ross for next season. If it doesn't I hope Cellino comes out and confirms that whatever we get for Ross will be re-invested back into player purchases.

If all true on the Ashdown affair, then thats poor form from the board, or is it? i would have thought that the Manager is the one to put his arm around his shoulder and say sorry pal, have to let you go??
Ross Mc!! would take 5million for him, had a prolific season, but dont think that will happen again, it was only afew seasons ago he was not a regular first team pick, plus he is not a captain, if a Manager has to give the arm band to keep a player at the club then let him go, get what you can then move on, just my views gentlemen.

    Oh morning all.

Morning all - In regards to Ashdown and the others, imagine the club called and spoke to them first on the phone, the following day they (the club) released an announcement of the players who were being released. Because of social media it would have been old news, those players would have been straight on twitter making their own announcement.

Look at Ashley Cole, he announces on twitter that he is not going to remain at Chelsea, he lets the world know first or at least before the club were allowed to make an announcement. He did it just after midnight, an obvious ploy to get in ahead of today's probable press release by the club.

It is a two way thing, social media has given players a way of jumping the gun ahead of their clubs official way of dealing with it. I am not saying Ashdown has been treated right or wrong, just looking at it from both angles.

In regards to Ross if we receive an offer of £8m and the whole lot can be thrown into the pot for new signings I would say jump at it.

Not that it matters too much for the future imo. but you can't have people find out they have lost their jobs on social media. It is just unprofessional if nothing else, a phone call should have been made.

I like Ross but he isn't worth 8m so if thats true thats just us saying we are not selling unless you put in stupid money offers.

Good Morrow from yes a dull Bardsey
Ashdown did nothing for us but he should have been informed by BM who seems to be missing
Ross at 8m you must take it and look at alternative players such as Guedetti cost maybe £1m
I truly believe this man even though he has not replied to my invite will do Leeds proud he his just making a statement saying just dint mess with me or you will find a horses head in your bed!

Morning Whites. £5m for Ross after scoring almost 30 goals would be a joke. If we're looking to push on to at least make the play offs this season, we ned to try to retain our best striker. He might not have as good a season again, but if anyone wants him, they should pay for the privilige.

I agree but like I said it is a two way thing, players have that same ability
what he hasn't been offered a contract that he wanted so he lets the world know on social media?

It is the way things are going, again I am not saying it is right but when you hear of people splitting up with their partners via a text message and employee's losing their jobs via email this is just the next step in the sad way things are being done.

exactly why we should jump at £8m and in hindsight why the high prices for Byram last season should have also been taken.

Mornin all. We are Leeds and as such we dont get 8m for anyone let alone reinvest it in the team. Anyone believing any of that is in for a big let down. As for Ashdown, Id imagine McD forgot he was a Leeds player, hence letter arriving late. What a waste of resources he was with his sore toe

    Morning all <ok>

Can anyone imagine what it would be like having 8 million invested in our team?

I got a feeling Ross will go and I'll accept that if we get around the 8 mill mark and it is pumped back in the team.

I think the times they are achanging. With Cellino in charge, I think if we sold Ross for £8m it would be reinvested. But I don't actually want him to go. If we're going to compete this season, we will need his goals. With a better midfield, maybe he'll even beat 29 goals. Who knows?

    Morning all ...

Ashdown ... none of the released players were called by McD because he had no say in the retained list, which was put together by Cellino and Carbone ... the "Muffia" clearly felt a letter was adequate enough to inform the players, agree with Ashdown that it shows a lack of respect

Ross ... he will be sold, and expect Cellino to accept £5m to £6m for him ... £8m is simply a starting price for negotations, Ross is now firmly in the shop window and won't be kicking a ball for Leeds again ... don't hold your breath, the money won't go back into the team, Cellino has clearly set the expectation that he has far too much debt that needs clearing this year

McD ... it is clear he is finished at Leeds, he is being totally blanked by Cellino and simply can't remain ... if McD stays he will be nothing more than a coach, and he'll have no decision making power, so he'll be the highest paid coach in the Championship ... I expect that McD's departure will be acrimonious, Cellino will be sued for a couple of million, and we will be paying a lot of money out thanks to our owner behaving like a prat instead of seeking an amicable solution ... McD's contract surely must state his responsibilities and job requirements, and Cellino is clearly going against this as he tries to frustrate McD into rage-quitting

Cellino ... I am really starting to dislike this man and the way he goes about his "business", he is starting to behave like a thug ... even more worrying is the fact that he has a strategy of asset stripping to remain self sufficient, so he won't be putting any money in to grow the club and push us forward ... key example: we will be using the Academy to deliver quality talent (Cellino quoted the class of '97 as an example of players to produce) that we can then sell for big money, and according to Massivo we need to be selling one to two Academy players every year ... here we go, the next Paul Robinson, James Milner, Jonny Howson, Fabian Delph, Scott Carson, Alan Smith, Harry Kewell, Ian Harte, Gary Kelly, Jon Woodgate, Stephen McPhail, all will be sold ... step up Charlie Taylor, have a good run and we'll be waving you goodbye in January

Cagliari ... the money from the sale NOT coming to Leeds, end of

Morning all. Maybe the post was slow that day. He should have been told by the manager, these things should have been sorted out before Maccers holiday.
I just hope MC sells Cagliari this week, although he says it won't make any difference to how he runs Leeds United, sounds a bit odd.

It looks more likely that any money for Ross is most likely to be pumped into the black hole of our finances in the short term. He'd be an idiot not to leave if a prem club came in, and good luck to the guy if we get a decent fee.

As for finding out you're being released on social media... Its plain wrong. Just unprofessional. It doesn't matter if the Player's then announce it themselves before the club make a statement... That's their choice, it doesn't impact on the club.

I'm not saying you're comments are wrong Billy, but it's all conjecture at this point in time. Have you started to take the same negativity tablets that Eires on?...:emoticon-0105-wink:

As Ristac says it works both ways, the players should show respect to the club, as much as the club should show respect to the players. I wonder what he was on a week while recovering from his sore toe, ungrateful bollox.......

Morning Shaks. How ya keeping. The point he was making is Leeds must be able to stand on its own feet, i.e. stop losing money. That doesn't change whether Cagliari is sold or not. After all, not much point in putting say 20m into Leeds at the moment if its to continue losing 1m a month. The investment just get eaten up by non football stuff. As for the way he's going about it, I dont care who's feathers he ruffles once he fixes the club that has been almost irreparably damaged over past ten years and we can get back to football stuff sometime in the future. It wasn't going to happen under any previous owners thats for sure

Fair points made Eire, I agree with you...<ok> Just wondering how much is being saved a month with the release of the 13 players? Even if the average was 5 grand a player, that's 260000 a month, that must help.
