For me he has a nasty manner about him. He's just the sort of man who I'd count my fingers after he shook my hand.

Can only speak for myself, so yes, it's relevant when presenting a personal opinion. Much like FLT I can't find myself warm to him as a character at all. Sometimes in life you just don't like people, sometimes you do. I don't think his chemistry mixes well with mine. Call it gut feel, whatever you like.

I didn't like the bit where he stuck up for Suarez over the racism thing.

This is the only reason anyone has given other than "I just don't".

All I said was "people hold a grudge", not "everyone holds a grudge". If you don't then fine (though the number who "just don't like him" without being able to give a reason suggests not everyone is being entirely honest with themselves), but that does nothing to refute my suggestion that a lot of saints fans would oppose his appointment based on the league one run-in.

That's not why people have a grudge against him. Remember when the games against Brighton in the Championship? They were so dirty.

Sure, that's a legitimate grievance, though it was probably the only way they were going to beat us 3-0. Sunderland's disciplinary record has actually improved since he took over though.

Not a fan of Poyet. That's not because he isn't a decent manager, but I think he is made to look better than he is. There was always this myth about how Brighton played awesome football when he was manager, but it wasn't true. They were a good side, and were consistent in League One, but there weren't anything special, and neither was/is he. I think he knew that Saints had better players than his team, and was a bit miffed when we won at the Withdean, despite the fact they were already up. That Dagenham comparison seems hilarious now.

Sorry PTF but you don't like it when people put words in your mouth or portray your view, now your doing it. I am being perfectly honest with myself and that is my HONEST view: I don't like Poyet. Why do I need a justification to that. You threw the comment out there that (whether you like it or not) gave the impression it was about the D&R comments and several of us who don't appear to like him have said we don't like him and it is nothing to do with those comments. I don't like the sound if a lot of people I see on television; it's an opinion I form.

    I'll have some too please.

We don't argue anymore... I just follow his rules, "Do as I say, not as I do.."

*kicks back* (fwiw I completely agree with FLT on this - it's very common not to like the cut of someone's gib. It's often to do between correlations in body language, but I'll save the science till after the scrap).

Didn't he say something similar about Liverpool as well recently?!

Where did I put words in your mouth? I'm quite perplexed by this reaction to be honest. Guilty conscience perhaps? ;)

    Well, fair point.

Know nothing about Garcia, but Saints would be daft if they weren't drawing up a list of possible managers just in case. Have to say that Mauricio has raised the bar for gorgeousness....tough act to follow.

As for Poyet...I'm a kind of mix of views. Used to hold a grudge (though that has softened) and think he has done very well this season. Should Saints be struggling against relegation, he might be okay, but I expect higher things for us than that.

Doesn't matter what any of us think about Poyet. If he ended up as Saints' manager (which seems unlikely to me), and if he got good results, I'm pretty sure we'd all learn to love him.

I'll throw my two penn'orth in though, and say his CV is not looking too shabby right now. I envy Sunderland fans their trips to Wembley, if not their season as a whole.

hard to imagine gus seeing us as a viable stepping stone from where he already is. if he joined us that's all we would be.

he's a thoroughly unpleasant character and I doubt i'd ever warm to him.

Where's this BS come from anyway? There's plenty of other made up transfers that deserve far more time than this one. ;)
