To be fair to him and the vast majority on this board they can't compare as they never saw Maradonna - we were just blessed

We don't need or want your cast offs , and we will not be the whipping boys you suggest! We have players coming in to replace players going out, pratley was a bit part player last season, borini came in the last 2 months, and has gone onto parma, its a good chance we will get him back in january on loan, dorus is a miss, but we have someone coming into replace him, he was coming in to challenge him for a place.

As for taylor, he is just a kid who was playing non league football last year, he will be a bench warmer when you £2m++ for him

Absolutely! Although when my muscles ache I sometimes wish I wasn't old enough to have seen him in action. :)

To be fair I understand their point of view as well. I remember having the same argument with my grandad. I said Maradona was the best, he said Stanley Matthews. As i'd never seen him play there was nothing he could say that was ever going to convince me. Funnily enough I also noticed that the younger posters used alot of the arguments I had used myself in that debate with my grandad <laugh> I now realise why he shook his head and gave up with a wry smile :)

Haha, my grandad was a Puskas fan big time, but even he admitted that Maradonna was best he had ever seen - my grandad was a lucky bastard, he was there for the 66 final and he saw Maradonna walk all over us in 86

We aren't running you down as much as you seem to think. We had concerns about whether we would survive going into last season, most of us would've taken 17th place gladly going into the campaign and we were very much the best team in our promotion year. But we were far from confident despite having alot of players with premier league experience.

I think the play off winner will always be faced with the hardest job to make the step up. You have the least time to prepare for your transfer targets and are as a result of being the lower finishing team of the three promoted arguably starting with the weaker squad. Just being realistic and recognising the reality of the task ahead of you and not picking on your club.

Puskas was class no doubt about that. So your grandad would have seen them both and very well placed to judge then.

My mum and dad got married on the day of the WC Final in 66. Shotgun as a result of my older brother! My mum had been amazed that the church had a saturday free at such short notice at the end of July <laugh> Wedding reception was one hell of a party apparently, although the football sort of took over <laugh>

Bet your Dad was well pissed off when he found out! I remember missing an A Level exam to watch an England world cup game (my mum went ballistic at me) - just a pity the farce England have turned into.

At first yeah. But apparently the wedding was over by late morning, the reception meal finished in time for the game and the hotel put some tv's out for everybody to watch, so it turned into a wedding & world cup party combined. My mum was more upset, she wasn't a football fan and thought the footie stole the thunder!
