There's reports of interest left, right and centre so thought I'd bang em all on one thread. Seb Larsson is one of the many players due to leave Sunderland in the near future, whether they be out of contract or at the end of their loan spell, but he's also reported to be one of the few who Gus Poyet is hoping to keep at the club. Those hopes may have become more difficult with the news out of Italy that Rafa Benitez has specifically requested that Napoli try to sign the Swedish international. According to the report in respected Italian newspaper 'Il Sussidiario', the Spanish manager wants to add Larsson to his squad as a cost-effective way of adding some versatility to his squad. Should Napoli follow up in their interest in the 28-year-old, they are sure to be an attractive option for Larsson with the Naples-based side currently 3rd in Serie A and guaranteed Champions League football once again next season. The Italians' interest should prove a test for Lee Congerton's negotiating skills, as Poyet hopes to keep Larsson at the club before his contract expires in little over a month. Steve Bruce could land Seb Larsson and Shola Ameobi to boost his Hull squad for their first-ever European campaign. Bruce is concerned the demands of playing in the Europa League could damage Hull next season and the Tigers play their first match on July 31. He knows he badly needs to strengthen his pool and Larsson and Ameobi are available from Sunderland and Newcastle respectively on frees. Bruce knows Larsson well and signed the Swedish international winger for Birmingham from Arsenal in 2007. Ameobi is a proven performer in the Premier League and the striker could provide cover for Shane Long and Nikica Jelavic. Seb has also been linked with Stoke, Borussia Monchengladbach, Besiktas and Galatasaray.
I think Hull are the least of our worries here. 2 months ago Seb could have gone for me but I'd like to keep him after his efforts BUT not on a long term bumper deal. He may well have to be written off. I honestly think Seb will be away. At least we were not relegated on his watch, so to speak.
Naples and champions league football.....yes please! If that is a serious offer then surely he'll snap there hands off
Still can't forget his great long run of mediocre performances before he pulled his socks up under Gus. I'm ambivalent about the bloke for that, but FFS don't let him go to Hull!
Seb Larsson's Sunderland future is still in the balance, with Gus Poyet wanting to keep the Swede at the club but new clubs being linked with the soon-to-be out of contract midfielder, it seems less and less likely that his future will be at the Stadium of Light with every passing day. His agent Per Jonsson has given an update on Larsson's future to Swedish newspaper Expressen, where he played down suggestions that Italian side Napoli were interested in his client's services; It is claimed as much [that Napoli are interested]. There is no truth in it, they've probably been and looked at him, but clubs are looking at players all the time. I know nothing about that in any case, and I think that we would have heard something Jonsson went on to explain that Larsson, who has recently been linked with moves to Stoke and Hull, would prefer to remain in England; There is of course a main track. Sebastian loves England and has always done. He has not wanted to move from there before. He then confirmed Sunderland still hope to re-sign the midfielder but that he wants Larsson's future to be decided one way or another before the start of the upcoming World Cup; Yes, I can say that it is true. They have suggested it and we'll see what they come back with. We want to be clear with his future relatively soon. Preferably before the World Cup, if possible. Hopefully Larsson can be persuaded to sign a new contract, he showed during the end of season run in how vital he can be when he plays well and with so many players out of contract or coming to the end of their loan deals, should he sign the new contract, it will be one less player we need to worry about replacing.
Seb won't be here next season, even if the Napoli interest isn't genuine, the interest from Turkey, and other Prem clubs surely is. They'll offer more than us wage wise as they'll see it as a deal for a free lad, he simply doesn't perform often enough for us to match a Bosman inflated offer from a Hull or Fenerbache.
Can only see him going to Hull me self like. See if they think he's worth 35k a week. I'm happy for him to sign a new deal on the right wage, he'll become a sellable asset then. Like you say, others will offer more. Meh really.
Larsson is the next David' i take it up the aris'Ginola. He's of to swoo some bitches with his locks and herbal conditioner, and the scandy lads love it to. Fun in the hot tub, love from L'Oreal
Meh is about right, he stays sound, he goes, sound. What's certain is he won't be playing RM if we want any joy!
I really think we need to aim for better than this guy. He's been a bottom 5 midfielder for pretty much his whole career. I appreciate his effort, but we need more or else we'll keep struggling with him in the first XI. I also reckon his wages would be far too high for a bench role.
Let him go, not enough performances befitting an international player over the four seasons he has been with us.
HULL CITY are unlikely to make a move for Seb Larsson, despite reports that the FA Cup finalists could hijack Sunderland’s bid to keep the Swede at the Stadium of Light. As the Echo reported last week, Sunderland are pressing ahead with talks to tie Larsson down to a new contract, with the midfielder’s current deal due to expire at the end of next month. Larsson’s agent, Per Jonsson, has confirmed negotiations are underway and that the 28-year-old wants to have his future resolved in the next three weeks. “They (Sunderland) have suggested it (a new contract) and we’ll see what they come back with,” said Jonsson, who insists rumoured suitors Napoli are not in the running for Larsson. “We want to be clear with his future relatively soon. Preferably before the World Cup, if possible.” There are no shortage of admirers in Larsson, with Stoke City seeing a January bid turned down by Sunderland and retaining an interest in the former Birmingham City man. There were also reports yesterday that Hull could be in the running for Larsson after ex-Black Cats boss and current Tigers manager Steve Bruce brought the Swedish international to Wearside three years ago. But the Echo understands that Bruce is not looking for a reunion with Larsson, despite Hull facing the added demands of Europa League football next season. Bruce has confirmed his intention to add five or six players to his squad. But he is thought to be keen on landing more youthful recruits this summer, while Larsson would also command big wages on any Bosman deal. Larsson is likely to remain in the Premier League though, even if he does leave Sunderland, despite interest from several Bundesliga outfits. Jonsson added: “Sebastian loves England and has always done. He has not wanted to move from there before http://www.sunderlandecho.com/sport...ity-switch-for-sunderland-s-larsson-1-6626311

After recently being strongly linked with a move for Jack Colback, West Ham United have now set their sights on another soon to be out-of-contract Sunderland midfielder. According to Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet, West Ham are interested in signing Seb Larsson once his contract with Sunderland expires, with Sam Allardyce's club apparently going as far as offering the Swedish international a long term contract. The report claims Larsson has yet to make a decision on his future, with the midfielder still mulling over Sunderland's contract offer. Larsson's agent, Per Jonsson, wouldn't comment on West Ham's alleged interest but did confirm that his client was still thinking about where his future lies; I do not comment on clubs. The only thing I can say is that Sebastian is thinking about the future at the moment. With Gus Poyet hoping to keep Larsson at the club, the news of a long term contract offer from West Ham could be a blow to the Uruguayan's plans. Should the 28-year-old join West Ham, he will join Phil Bardsley and Craig Gardner, who signed for Stoke and West Brom respectively, in leaving the club, with Carlos Cuellar and Keiren Westwood also confirmed to be leaving once their contracts expire.
