read about that. IS their manager 'Fournier' the excellent ex-United player?

Any fans of Orbital here, or am I talking to entirely the wrong crowd?

I love Belfast, absolutey love it. Beyond that I haven't heard too much of their stuff. Are they still going strong?

Belfast is one of the most beautiful pieces of music committed to tape. Yes, there's a new album coming out in the Autumn - has a cover of The Cure's "A Forest" on it, along with a lot of other interesting bits and bobs. Sounds like a real return to form.

For the young/uninitiated, this is their track Belfast - it's beautiful (though a pretty bad recording of it, even if you don't like or get dance music, this is very accessible) - [video=youtube;M0wYZ9hS0zc]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M0wYZ9hS0zc[/video]

I dug out an album I knew I had called "the planet of eternal dance", pleasant enough but not something I play very often. It is a Limited Edition CD and was made in 1991. I also have found the original "green album" also 1991, with Belfast on it.

Beautiful indeed! I have always loved electronic music from an early age. I know it's not everyone's cup of tea but everything from Kraftwerk to 'stomping' hard trance just resonates with something inside my being. The film is before my time but when I first watched A Clockwork Orange and heard the strange and quite frankly disturbing soundtrack by Walter/Wendy Carlos I loved how electronic music could manipulate and distort sound (it was done on a Moog wasn't it?).

Funny you mention tape, when most were listening to CD's and Ipod's (it took me quite a while to get into the Ipod age!) I can remember the look of horror on peoples faces as I had to change a cassette and pulled out a tape pack!

Nowt wrong with that. Used my trusty Sony walkman up until last year. Mainly cos my aging Rover 75 still had a tape deck in it and I couldn't be arsed with keeping multiple copies of stuff.

At least I was confident at Festivals and the like no bugger was going to nick it, not with all that lovely ipoddyness on view.

    GoT:

[nsfw]Man, I totally called that Oberyn ****, although I guess it was obvious he was there for a reason. Also called that Baelish is a creepy motherfucker, which again was totally not obvious at all.

Great episode, the Tyrion/Jaime Tyrion/Bronn Tyrion/Oberyn scenes were all fantastic, as was as usual the Hound and Arya. The Jon Snow and Dany storylines have staled a bit for me, just the whole 'Jon Snow is trying to sort out Castle Black because he knows more than the rest of them but the Lord Commander is a dick and won't let him' and Dany coming to terms with being a proper queen and the balance between justice and mercy etc. etc., they're not outright boring and I'm sure they're heading somewhere great but at the moment they aren't doing it for me.[/nsfw]

I too had a trusty Sony, good stuff! The only problem I found was that some of my cherished and most loved tapes were played so much that the sound quality deteriorated so I began to limit the usage out of the fear of them becoming inaudible :emoticon-0107-sweat

Ahh, that unique sound then silence as it "ate" a tape which had offended it in some way. Never used the pre-recorded type as the sound quality was pants to start with.

The art of making a tape (esp' for some young girly) has gone, not quite the same on CD.
But then I'm still using (and adding) to my vinyl!

Ah yes, I have such fond memories of making mix tapes, especially if it was for for a girl. A cathartic experience if there ever was one. I too fear that the art has died out my friend!

[nsfw] I've missed Melisandre's background music/tits, so that was a welcomed scene. [/nsfw]
