If we sell on Canas I'd like to see us make a move for Jack Rodwell.

23 yrs old, 6ft 2, defensive midfielder who represented England all the way up and had 4/5 good years in the Everton 1st team.
I read they want to get rid and wonder if the pay off he'll get from Man City will make him think about fitting into our wage structure in return for 1st team football.

Would also sell Ki and bring in Nick Powell for £5m ish.

A lot of the players being mentioned as transfer targets for us are English (or UK) I take we are looking to go more Stoke than Sevilla.

Stoke have played some nice football this season <ok>

Quite frankly, we need a few more British players in our squad. Rodwell would be a very good signing.

Mark Hughes has done a remarkable job in fairness and I remember the dismayed response, me included, when someone touted him as our manager back in the day.

Now, I promise I'm not resurrecting the Monk/Laudrup debate but the thought occurs that, had Hughes been our manager at some point, would Monk and Williams have been quite so quick to undermine him with Jenkins? Had they been stupid enough to do so, a very real and amusing image of them being pinned by their throats to the dressing room wall comes to mind. Sparky wouldn't have tolerated it that's for sure.

I suggested Hughes the day before it was confirmed that Monk had the job for those exact reasons Ivor.

Sparky is a good middle of the road manager who was just that little bit short as good enough to manage a big side. He would have been ideal for us rather than going down the road of someone like laudrup at the time. He has done very well at stoke who in my opinion don't have the caliber of players that we have and should Monk fail which i don't think he will then sparky could be the ideal candidate for the job....

You lack the intellect to be able to understand, and I neither have the time, nor the inclination, to enlighten you.

Dai, why another dig at Laudrup? <doh>

Mark Hughes was doing very well at Man City before getting sacked and will go on to manage a big club I think.

who is having a dig ?? Cant you tell the difference between a statement about my views on sparky and a dig at laudrup...I am absolutely serious when i say we should have gone for sparky rather than someone who in his own words said he knew nothing about the British game and still don't imo....Stop trying to find things that are not there as its going to be impossible not to mention laudrups name on any topic to do with the swans when talking about possible managers and what we should do or not do...

You don't just mention Laudrup, you denigrate, insult and abuse him with almost every post. You seem incapable of making any post without doing so. You are obsessed with him.

He knew enough about the British game to take Swansea to their highest ever P.L. position.

He knew enough about the British game to win the Capital One Cup.

Your hero,Garry Monk has achieved none of the above,so perhaps he knows nothing about the British game. In fact,he took the team to it's LOWEST EVER P.L. position,so that would confirm it.
