Blackburn 16, Leeds 5, Boro 8, Blackpool 15 including ' 30 goal a season ' Chopra........... I honestly feel our approach to FFP will put us in a good position next season. We have the core/ heartbeat of a good side the for the first time in some time should the nucleus stay together. No need for wholesale changes - obviously key areas where we patently need ability added to the side. I really do have a very good feeling next season, I'm sure we'll do better again. I'd LOVE Derby to win the play off final too, and put QPR in a right little mess! Come on you blues!
Agree, although if we had a manager who was more players focused aka getting players in over coaching players I think we'd have wholesale changes as IMO apart from our defence we haven't got many other players who could get into most other championship teams. The fact we are going for a bit of continuity though is a good thing and the fact that all these clubs are releasing players there are a fair few good players available which we could tap into!!
Know what you mean. I find McCarhy's faith in certain players admirable. That said, what I did see of Nouble for instance, there clearly is a player in there and I really do think he will continue to improve next season. Playing for club after club on loan is no way to maximise your ability! Would love to think we'll sign a very tidy wide man. I also think Paul Anderson will have an improved season too.
Definitely I like the fact he's willing to give players a chance and will keep perservering with them if they don't have a good game one week. That was far too often the problem under previous managers particularly Keane, who actually had some decent players but if they had one bad game they were out of the team and new players came in. And I think this has been shown in the past with our youngster give them the opportunity and some patience and in the right environment they'll progress even if they're not the most talented of players. Mick does frustrate me though in the sense he seems to have tonnes of patience with players like Mings, Nouble,Tabb and Anderson etc, when yes they all have gradually improved yet a player comes in and produces a standout performance, like Taylor did and we were all getting excited by it, yet the next week he's not in the team. And Hewitt although not brilliant at the start of the season, I though he was no worse than Chambers and certainly looks more talented than Mings. As I've said I wish Mick would have the patience to work with more talented players than just the hard workers, we've seen what he can get out of average players I wish he do the same with better ones. Priority for me is 2 wingers, then beyond that I'd like to see us sign a dominant CM or just someone to give Skuse a bollocking and tell him to stop pansying around and take the game to the opposition then probably at least 1 striker and a GK. For me CB's and fullbacks are where we need to strengthen least
It seems to me that Mick is happy to put time/patience and belief into players as long as they themselves put the work/effort/right attitude and professionalism into everything they do....and I'm quite happy with that.
Same Weighty, want a squad of players who are happy to play for us without the egos. Personally quite pleased to see Taylor and Loach available for transfer, will be good to have both off the wage bill.
Im hoping that our 'tight' approach from the last few seasons means we are in a good position to pick up a decent player or two on the cheap
Wouldn't that be ideal. Evans been tight to then release the funds for: a)a decent manager who won't waste it away and b) at a time he now feels is right to make a proper promotion push. Wishful thinking? Time will tell.
I can't see us spending much in transfer fees.... However, I think we'll attract a good amount of the decent freebies. Players like a club with momentum, and a decent manager. I think we'll attract some very tidy players.
Yeah I saw the BBC mock ups and thought it was really well done! Marcus Evans has made an extra 10 Million in the past 12 months so who knows we might be able to afford Drogs for about 4 or 5 games!
I can see Taylor going back to Peterborough either as a part exchange for Asombalonga or as a straight cash deal!
I'd like to think your crystal ball is working well on this one warky. A real big target man. I reckon he could hold his own in the champ.
Well Mads I've heard from a well placed source that discussions are taking place between the two clubs and a swap deal is under serious consideration!
Considering what we paid for Taylor, who sadly IMO wasn't the player he was at Posh,it would work out beneficial to us. My breath is baited.
