Been looking at the ratings in some of the papers, most raving about Carzorla and Ramsay, a couple having Bruce as there top rated player but somehow the ratings that caught my eye was the Telegraph, Carzorla and Ramsay get 8/10 each...Davies 6/10!! I must have watched a different game cos the guy was immense for 120 minutes. Anyway 1. Davies 2. Bruce 3. Fryatt
1.Davies 2.Bruce 3.Elmo Feel bad choosing just three, the lads did us proud yesterday.Steve Bruce and his staff, the fans and everyone connected with the club, we were all immense.Even though we lost in my fifty odd years supporting City I have never felt prouder or more privileged to follow our great club.
I'm stunned how few have said Fryatt, he was absolutely outstanding and it's the best game I've ever seen him have. He somehow morphed into a target man who, for an hour, won and held up everything.
Davies....far and away the best player on the pitch Elmo....took Gibbs to the cleaners and won every high ball with brilliant flick ons Bruce....well done Alex...best game of the season
Davies Chester Fryatt Nice to see Bruce getting acclaim on here, though - he did play very well (but conceding that free kick just cost him a place in my top 3). As did Elmo, Quinn and others.
1. Davies 2. Chester 3. Elmo/Bruce Fryatt would have been in there but ran out of energy in the second half. Not sure about Quinn. He nearly cost us a goal with that suicidal drag-back in his own box. Hudds, Livermore, Meyler didn't do anything outstanding offensively but you have to give them credit for keeping Arsenals offensive midfielders relatively quiet most of the game.
Davies was frigging brilliant, an easy no1 for us despite how well everyone played. Countless interceptions and blocks and can't remember him losing the ball, he was comfortable bringing it out from the back and ultra composed on his finish Bruce was #2, prob his best game for us, similar to Davies just less composed on the ball Huddlestone my #3, he really belongs playing at the top level, so composed, a flawless touch and just doesn't give the ball away. Every other player gets a serious mention, brilliant all round
DAVIES Bruce Elmo Goals from our two CBs says it all for me. Elmo was superb and without his workrate we would have looked poor. Fryatt ran and ran and . . . A goal would have clinched it. Some Aluko was better on the ball but had no pace whatsoever. Meyler dropped a couple of real changers. McShane was too early. Bruce was excellent and might of been MOTM, his forced substitution broke our play, it was nothing that Arsenal did.
I couldn't choose one player...I thought that each and everyone one of them were brilliant....The togetherness in defeat was the motm for me...If they can harness this into next season then there is no reason why we can't go very close again in the FAC or the LC and do okay in the league....
The whole team, just shows that team spirit and passion is worth more than a few expensive superstars. It would be easy to add 50 million to our debt and end up no better than where we are now. Thinking of the Torres move from liverpool to chelsea and his replacement andy carrol.
Really impressive performances throughout the team - they all looked as classy as Arsenal, but not quite as quick with the ball when in the danger areas. Hard to pick three players from the 14 on the pitch, but here goes: Davies - best player at Wembley this season Fryatt - played like a top team's seasoned forward Chester - Looks pure class, should be in England squad (with Davies) not Wales Shame to leave any out. We need to add little, just keep improving. Best player of the season was Elmo in terms of adapting to this league, just piping Meyler, plus Quinn looks good now and should play more next season; Davies signing of the season, Thud and Livermore so influential, Rosey showed his value and previous experience at this level as season went on. Bruce was excellent once again yesterday, especially at last ditch tackles and was unfortunate that the ref was poor and gave that free kick; Gregsy will rightly be our No. 1 for years to come, hope Aluko keeps fit and with us as he brings so much more to the team with his skills and the future looks bright - Amber and Black.
