I think the story of Lloyd Doyley is undeniably the stuff of legend.

Delightful bloke, doing a job he truly loves to the best of his ability, culminating in this (couldn't figure out how to link directly to the video).

For me, saying that he is one of the least talented players ever to have donned the shirt can only enhance the magic of the story. Whether he is a legend himself is a matter of debate, of course.

Me too. I think he will start off with a season like the one he started off with here, and truly believe that he will become an established name in the lower reaches of the Premier League.

I think he will do pretty well - after all he's got one of the best managers hasn't he? :smiley-finger007:

He's got all the right attributes, and his strike against millwall at the vic shows he is an instinctive goalscorer- something all prem strikers should be!

Sean Dyche has never lost a game as Watford manager. That's more than either of the managers of the Welsh rabbles can say :1980_boogie_down:

Cardiff have set their stall out for their new manager, by sacking someone for getting into the playoffs and not winning them.

Best of luck to MM and all that. But even if I have jinxed us, if forced to pick, I'd rather go into my first day in a club's dugout in Dychey's shoes than Malky's. Looking at it another way, who is in more trouble if he has a shaky start?

"saying that [Lloyd] is one of the least talented players ever to have donned the shirt"

Oh, no, no, no, definitely not!!!!

Maybe North North Watford has only been watching the club for a modicum of seasons, but, believe me, there have been many players that have been much less talented. We had a thread, a while back, of the best and (more popularly) the worst players for Watford.

Jimmo Lawton (for one) makes Lloydinho look like Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ken Goodeve (from L*t*n) was another, Tony Geidmintis (although a trier - whole-hearted player anyone?) was head and shoulders above Doyley in the defensive liability stakes. What about the legendary Albert McClenaghan, one of GT's 'lesser' signings? Did NNW ever see him?

Just a few players from the dreadful time that was the mid-seventies illustrate the inaccuracy of that claim!

lol - and Terry Melling for another (even though he did fluke a goal at Anfield) - made Ellington look like Twiggy

Sod it. Lloydihno is reasonably good at the very least. At times, I think he knows his full-back game better than most. But we never concentrate on when he does his job well (which is most of the time) <doh>. Worst ever <yikes> ?
In these days where someone is accused of being a greedy mercenary for having any career ambition outside of Watford, is it not a bit weird when we pull apart a player like Lloydinho, who is Golden through and through?

Twenty years from now, Lloydinho will be a name people will happily hark back to, unquestionably. He is a 'legend'.
