I can't stand how Apple products insist on using iTunes and also converting everything you own into a stupid music format which only iPhones can read. Every other device allows universal use...

This is the best thing about the Samsung Galaxy. It can create a wireless hotspot anywhere you go. Meaning I can get internet on my laptopn wherever I fancy it, using my phone as a router.

I have a Sony Xperia X10 Android phone, I didn't really want an I phone, my brother has one and he likes them, they look ok but the camera is a bit naff. You can get a lot of apps on this phone too, but I don't usually bother with them. Only the app for this site ;)

Orange and T-Mobile have merged, but the physical Orange and T-Mobile brands will remain. Over the next year or so the two networks will be consolidated so that each customer can initially use the other network (they can at the moment with 2G only), with the longer term aim that there will just be one big network serving the two brands

Going back to your original question, you mention your coverage is poor. I know many on here have already slated Blackberry's, but according to the Orange website the BB you have is capable of UMA phone calls - basically the ability to make calls over your WiFi network. There are a number of others that also have this funtionality if you're struggling with coverage

Android is the way forward. I've an HTC Incredible S - truly amazing phone.

Android will win the battle, I think it has overtaken all of its competitors in the US already. iphone will be the betamax in time to come ;)

don't know how anyone can say the galaxy is head and shoulders above the iphone. I got an iphone, but between me and most my mates we all either have an iphone or a galaxy, and everyone agrees the iphone is better all round. And about the screens, they're not that fragile, mines been dropped dozens and dozens of times and the screens barely even marked!

Trouble is:- iPhone....iPod....iPad...iTunes....Apple Mac. It's all linked up, to give you a nurturing, comfortable environment.

BUT: It must piss 'em off that the Beeb registered iPlayer! <laugh>

I have the Nokia N8 which does everything i need from a phone, it has a 12mp camera and video, wireless tranmitter for playing your mp3s in your car, its best feature is that it has a HDMI out socket which can be connected to the biggest LCD tv you can find and steam videos and photos and even use it for gaming striaght form your phone in HD

I have none of those and in all likelihood will never own one.
Itunes is similar to a virus - try getting it off your computer

I've had my iPhone for 15 months now, dropped it a few times but mine hasnt got a cracked screen either. Never had a problem apart from the battery life.

In what way? My experience is the opposite. As some examples:

    1. Battery life on the Galaxy is better
    2. Screen display on the Galaxy is better
    3. The camera is better on the Galaxy
    4. The Galaxy can display Flash
    5. The Galaxy doesn't demand the use of iTunes

I realise it's down to personal choices sometimes, but even my phone obsessed kids (ok, kids, they're 15, 20 and 22) wouldn't want an iPhone, and in fact the middle one's just got rid of her BB in annoyance and got an android based HTC after playing with my Galaxy and the witches iPhone.

If you really believe the iphones better, I'd love to know why.
