It doesn't matter how he was sacked, it had to be done and the board had the balls to do it. Laudrup was given the chance to jump and he didn't, so like other clubs he was sacked. I really cannot see what the problem is here, did anyone here expect some sort of party? Releasing of white doves from a wicker basket? Perhaps a forework display to send them off out at sea? His sacking was nothing out of the ordinary and after two days the national and international news didn't give two hoots, our club suffered zero negative impact to it's reputation. In fact the worlds media were highlighting the stats that showed Jenkins got it right on the very same day he told the Dane to go.
wasnt he sacked by email though. Doesnt seem to be very professional. I would say it is a bit of a cowards way. If you are going to do it have the bals to do it face to face. I just want to add though, I could see the boards reason for the sacking, but please the man did deserve a little bit more than an email.
I should add that it is not a case of me not appreciating what he has done for us with the cup and the 9th place finish, I do appreciate that, but it should be clear now that my beef is with the perceived lack of awareness that he had outlived his stay here.
Irrelevant, if he was in France then that was his problem. You don't stand still and wait for him to come back on his own accord and let's not forget that he did leave the country on his own accord. Some managers find out through the news.
Not "perceived " by me. You fail to mention any of the top class players he attracted,oh,and the kudos for The Club having Laudrup in charge. In many ways,Laudrup opened up horizons that were previously undreamed of.
Come on project, If he was in france pick up the phone and have the balls to tell him. It shows our board in a poor light or did HJ need to grow a pair and deal with it properly. I suppose if you got home from work and found an email telling you not to bother coming to work tomorrow it would be fine. It was a totally unacceptable way to treat anyone as an employee.
How do you know he was never looking to improve? In my opinion that is a stupid thing to say. How do you know how much work he was putting in? Were you there every day in training? You don't know, so why make these ridiculous allegations? Oh right, you saw him play so you made a few assumptions and you know what they say about those. sorry ivor but you cannot dismiss the players comments all around the media that laudrup had lost the dressing room big time, There was no way on this earth the players were ever going to respond to him. He was so far up his arse with ego that the players hated him and his football....If he never got sacked then we would be playing championship football with monk as boss because he would have gone. Now with good sense jinx sacked the cause of our poor form for a whole season and about time too and installed monk who had to fix the mess and show laudrup how to win games and he did it in style with two games to spare so instead of monk as boss in the championship he is boss in the premiership.....we had a very lucky escape..but its back to normal now doing things the Swansea way and long may it continue and may we never employ any big ego's ever again..
Don't agree. It's not as if the guy was away for a month it was a couple of days. I don't give a flying **** what other clubs do and I can understand why he was sacked but I'd expect more from our Board than that. Poor show. I can understand the pro and anti Laudrup sentiments but the sacking was very poorly handled.
I dont think he went to France if Im not mistaken , it was a propaganda ploy by Huw.seems Laudrups daughter said something about this right from the start
Who said Laudrup was in France? That was just another piece of scurrilous gossip that his detractors pounced on. But let's just suppose he was in France. So what? Is he not allowed to leave the country, presumably with permission? "Some managers find out through the news". ESPECIALLY when their employers lack the guts, integrity, honesty, and whatever else you care to add,to do it face to face. Shabby behaviour. You are determined to show him in a bad light, regardless.
I thought Laudrup was in Swansea when sacked? Hadn't he already had one meeting with Huw/ the board that day? The only thing I disagree with the club is the way in which the sacking was handled.
Train to Paris and back possible within a day. No problem him going to see his family a few hours way. Pretty obvious that some people on here see Paris as some weird far off place rather than another cosmopolitan city a bit further away than Sunderland.
As Valley said, ML was not in France, he was right here, in Swansea. There was a meeting early that morning, in which ML and HJ shook hands and ML was supposedly told he was doing a good job (or something liek that) the email came a few hours later. So no he was NOT in France. So do you still think its irrelevant? As for some find out in the news, I condemn them clubs too for their actions, as I condemn the way our board went about the sacking. I like people to be upfront and say **** to people's faces, what the board did was cowardly, and they had no excuse for it.
Some have mentioned GM gave us a 12th placed finish, right, fair enough, now accept that we were already 12th when ML was sacked, so GM didn't actually do any better. Its irrelevant of that we were 2 points clear of relegation, as there were still 8 teams worse than us, just like there was when GM finished the season, so that stat is bollocks and you all know it. It has also been mentioned in this thread that ML was not doing very well, that a point a game this season, was not good enough, some also bring up the end of last season, well thankfully those are irrelevant, as he had more than made up for the fall off in his performance prior to that. I have asked before, what you think we should have achieved, most of you never responded. So will see if you will do so here. He is a man of great integrity, and Swansea City were extremely fortunate that he took up the managerial role at the Club. We all thought that but he turned out the opposite as the chairman sacked him for not doing a good enough job. Many thought he was too good for the Club, and I can see some justification in that remark having been made. They were wrong wasn't they as he was sacked and nobody else came in for him when they could...i wonder why ..
Not sure , ask project . Someone said Rory , Rodgers signing , never got a chance . I said Routledge , Rodgers signing , never got a chance till Laudrup got him going after selling Sinclair at a profit and off went project on one of his freak outs toward Laudrup . ?
