I think Fabianski starting is Wenger's last effort to try and get him to stay. Sanogo is on the bench because having at least one striker on the bench is a must. Podolski is useless on his own up front, and we have no one else.
Podolski on his own isn't great, but sonogoals is **** full stop. I'd rather play no striker, but surely we have a youth player who can either control the ball, hold the ball up, shoot or pass?
Every time I've seen Sanogo play, he controls the ball under pressure well, he brings our midfielders into play with passes into feet and he shoots when he has the chance. He's been unlucky so far in front of goal, but I think he has the potential to be a great player. You just cited his best qualities as his worst, showing that you never really pay attention when he plays, but rather look at stats.
