From yesterday's Mirror...not sure if posted, but another example of tosh produced when rumours are recycled to make a 'new article'. Apparently once you've been threatened with the sack, you stop fearing it. I would have said just the opposite. And another example of how they make it almost seem like a statement has been made.

 

Back page on DE "Southampton are ready to triple Mauricio Pochettino's wages to £6 million a year deal to keep him out of the clutches of Tottenham".

 

£6million a year? That would surely make him the highest paid manager in the league? Silly money really.

To put that figure into some context.

 

Even Sven would be interested for that kind of money!

 

This is in Euros mind, so would only put Wenger & Mourinho ahead of him from the premier league and he would be the 8th highest paid manager in world football.

That is on top of Lallana and Lovren going to Liverpool, apparently...

 

Imagine if it all did come true, Poch on a lucrative contract, and even though we may lose Shaw, having £57 million to spend on the squad in the Summer. Makes me feel all weird inside just thinking about it.

 

Well KL showed she's not afraid to pay handsomely if we believe that she offered a bumper raise to Nicola to stay. If these reports are true, that's great news.

Does that actually tell us anything new at all? It just says that he is the type of manager that Spurs want, and he is at the top of their wish list. Doesn't mean it is any more likely to happen.

Forget the actual sum...I like the idea that we will be seen as a club ready to splash the cash. It may change the attitude of the media which won't affect anything, but may stop all the negative stories which destabilise me.

Seeing how much Mauricio already earns must stop people whinging about Nicola's earnings. No one could claim he didn't earn the money, especially as he did the work of a whole board apparently

 

I agree, not just out of wishful thinking but looking at the facts. Nicola Cortese left Saints in the middle of the January transfer window. Mauricio spoke to the person who had written the cheques during his tenure (Saints were the 3rd biggest spenders last season I believe) and decided to stay. The players were not agitating to leave. Saints league position was similar to where we finished from memory. Aside from the actual fact that four whole months have elapsed, can somebody tell me what exactly has changed in that time?

 

Can't see every player(first team) staying tbh.

 

We need to keep the core. Not sure if Maya or Jos will stay...we need back up, but they will be pushed down the pecking order (hopefully). Jos wanted to leave in January, so hopefully he will find a team that will give him more starts. Will miss his happy face though
