He's gone backwards at Werder Bremen, who are a very mediocre team in the Bundesliga.

Whoscored seem to usually be pretty reliable with their position charting and they say he's started 17 up front, 3 left wing, one right wing and then two off the bench.

    Oh okay, he's crap then.

On an unrelated note, the Brazuca will apparently knuckle at 30mph. We'll be seeing a lot of that then. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-27375349

I think the point is that the normal speed of a shot on goal is considerably higher than that, so you won't see as much knuckling as the Jabulani, which knuckled at around the speed of a typical shot.

But surely a ball can travel around 30mph quite often during play? Not necessarily from shots but, like, corners?

And bear in mind I know little about physics when I say this, but surely the ball has to reach 30mph before it can reach 50mph.

I have to wonder, and this may be stupid, but why do they fanny about with the ball so much for the world cup? Nobody ever complains about the ball their domestic league uses, and you'd assume they're all mostly the same as each other, so why fix what isn't broken and come out with some mega-scientific new ball that nobody's really sure about for the world cup?

Lots of people buy it, maybe? I bought a Jabulani. Needed a ball, went into a shop, Jabulani was there, thought I might as well give it a go.

I guess corners would have curl on them, and a shot would only be at 30mph for a split second on its acceleration to top speed. Might mean that weak shots embarrass a few keepers, which could be funny.

You didn't buy the match ball model did you? They're like £80 or something.

Di Santo is just in the extended squad isn't he? So don't think he will actually go. Might be wrong.

You're right. Still I'm sure I could name ten strikers more deserving of being a standby than him.
