And that manager will still end up being sacked in 6 months.

Its because in general we want someone with experience and leadership who can handle the ridiculous pressure that comes with the job and the unrealistic expectations our chairman places on managers. Van Gaal would have been ideal but we missed the boat and hes going to Utd so there aren't many alternatives and your manager isn't the "Name" most are hoping for, but that doesn't mean we wouldn't get behind him or he couldn't be a success.

When Liverpool got Rodgers, the fans weren't overly impressed, even at the start of this season they where moaning before things clicked. Fans in general just like to moan!

If Pochettino is our new manager and he ends up being as good as you lot say he is, then it won't be long before our fans are eating their words, and glady so.

If I were MP I'd be concerned about the amount of media attention. Its a goldfish bowl.

Moving to Spurs could be the making or ruination of MP.
To date, his success, at Español and Saints, has come from working with, largely, young players that are finding their way in football.
He has been able to use their youth and lack of experience, to mould them into what he wants.
If his experience with Osvaldo, is anything to go by, his ability at dealing with older, more experienced players, with massive egos, may be a weakness to be exploited at WHL.

That's exactly what you need, a proven winner with experience of handling pressure at the highest level. Pochettino would be a poor fit for your club. Now, with the best will in the world, kindly do one.

And because he strikes me as being ambitious, he will take the risk. If offered the job that is.

Wouldn't judge Mauricio's ability with players based on Osvaldo...one man with a short fuse doesn't prove anything.

Good point by St Badger though, Mauricio's come here and found a squad of talented honest professionals and youngsters who have bought into his philosophy.
Not sure the likes of Adebayor, Lamela, Soldado, Lennon, Sigurosson, Eriksen, Chadli, Capoue are the types of characters to press high up the pitch like blue arsed flies.

Our players all remarked on Mauricio's presence...they felt in awe of him, so believed him when he said, 'Do this and you will succeed'. Some players may not be so accepting, especially when asked to do double training.

Was mentioned on Twitter that Poch is close to signing a 3yr deal with Saints. Is there any truth in this or is it a wind up. It was mentioned it came from Sky sources but I can't find anything.

Yeah I know! Better to try and get it confirmed on here I think! I tentatively put in the Saintsfc hashtag, fearing the worst but it wasn't too bad for once.

If Mauricio does stay, it's a sure-fire sign there'll be some decent spending coming up. Exciting.

I think the Twits were just seeing that Saints had had a board meeting, and extrapolated somehow that meant Mauricio was signing a new deal. Which clearly it didn't.

I expect the thumbscrews have failed and they have sent for the rack from Nicola's dungeon.
