Well he has said he can't put a figure on how many but he would rather have 2 top signings than several squad fillers. It's obvious he doesn't want to show his hand so we just won't know til they start appearing in leaning photos. We don't want anymore like Aspas. And if we sign everyone we are linked with there will be at least 50 coming in.
anyone reckon we will have to reduce the squad first? we have all done a list of players we think may or should go(some longer than others lol), but get rid first (hopefully) before buy?
The rumours of a great summer exodus are likely true. Brendan got the memo about the new direction from above and expressed his rationale in the press. More quality, shorter wage bill but skewed higher, fewer players out on loan, no loanees in. The squad won't go below 23 anyway. Those 23 will be far better as an ensemble than past season's. I approve.
He's right. Quality not quantity. Quality players might struggle a bit with more games to play, but they're still more likely to be able to get the results. If you fill a squad with mediocre players, then mediocrity is what you get, and anyone who thinks we can afford to have a bench of players of the standard of City or Chelsea is kidding themselves. Therefore, fewer players, but better players. And let's not fear the worst all the time. When we failed to buy anyone in January, there were those who were certain this meant that we wouldn't get CL, and look what happened. I know we have to discuss where we go from here, but the season has only just ended, please let's not get into a negativityfest so soon.
in short. the squad already has a lot of players, sense woudl tell you that the journeymen to average types and those past it are the ones to go. cissohko and moses for example. replace those and you improve
I know a lot are worried about an overhaul but if you look at the players likely to be leaving, they haven't played a lot of football for us this year. Reina, Lucas, Agger, Aspas, Assaidi etc have limited minutes under their belt so there shouldn't be too much of a disruption. And I agree we need quality - problem is, Rodgers's definition of quality could be different to ours.
Which is why he gets to manage a top Premier League side, and we get to waffle about it on here and pretend we know better, safe in the knowledge that no matter how daft our pronouncements, they don't actually affect anything.
Nah! I know better than Rodgers. I've just won three Premier League titles, and two UCL on the bounce in FM2014!
