well i'm sure i speak for the entire norwich fan base when i say the feeling is mutual good luck to cambridge by the way - hope they go up. dickie dosh has done a grand job.
Good grief, this forum is tedious sometimes. Think I'll just steer clear until a manager is appointed.
It's only tedious when the Ipswich lot turn up, I think we should have a Norwich vs Ipswich thread to confine the tedium to one place.
There was no final verdict on Hughton, he got the boot so we will never know if he would have kept us up!
Completely agree. Nonetheless, I maintain that in virtually every Premier League season, one of the bottom three makes a sudden last minute rush with about 6 games to go. It's very rare that it's two clubs that do and it's equally rare that no clubs do (though that's not to say that the club making the last minute rush will succeed). You have to work on the assumption that one of the bottom clubs will do this. If it hadn't been Sunderland, who no doubt were remarkable in these last six matches, I suspect it would have been Fulham. On this basis the board and manager should always aim to stay above 16th. Then you won't get relegated even if one club did have a good run. Losing to West Brom meant we lost 16th place, and therefore (exacerbated by our ludicrously difficult run-in) were always going to be vulnerable.
Good to know your comprehensions skills have not improved a jot. That's not what I said. The board acted because they had to. Yes, partly it was because of a last minute bid for survival in the hope that the team would get united against Fulham, but in the end it was out of our hands because one of the bottom three went on a remarkable winning streak. The only difference the appointment of Adams made was that Hughton left with his record intact.
Yeah it's really good news for East Anglian football. I just hope that Cambridge can do the business on Sunday!
I thought I had read or heard somewhere that McNally wanted rid of Hughton earlier, but Delia didn't want him to go.
Possibly, but the decision had been taken to keep him till season's end until that WBA game forced the issue!
