Ha ha a rather tenuous link but joking aside- eating Cherries before an onset of gout has proven to be helpful in controlling recurrent attacks ... hope this helps http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-19746453
That's cos BMI is a lazy way of working it out and doesn't even measure fat. Most rugby players would be considered obese. It only measures height and weight, so since muscle weighs a lot more than fat, being muscular and fit makes you appear overweight in terms of BMI.
First time I had it I thought I'd broken my big toe playing football the night before. Excruciatingly painful, down to inability to breakdown uric acid.
I've suffered from gout for 30 years since my early 40's. Wouldn't wish it on anyone its too bloody painful. Played with it in the mens leagues here till I was 52....thought I had a broken big right toe. Wrapped my foot in thick padding so I could play...could hardly get my right boot on. Doc finally told me I had gout and proscribed Allopurinol...blessed relief. When it flares up as it did on the flight over this week from Vancouver I take loads of Tylenol to dull the pain. That works...I wont be limping down Wembley Way. That should take care of it for tomorrow BFT.
Thank you. I am building a case to stop my wife force feeding my broccoli. This is the 2nd good reason I heard in the last few days. The other was that it's a major factor in having excessive gas. And it tastes crap.
Muscle doesn't weigh more than fat, it's denser than fat which is a different thing entirely. The difference in density has no effect on your bmi, it affects your weight relative to your other measurements (almost everything except height in fact) so you look lighter when you weigh 14 stone with muscle than when you weigh 14 stone with fat. BMI was only ever intended to be used as a guide for average people. It's ****wits applying it to rugby players and other unusually muscular people that wrongly cause it to be devalued by the fat ****ers that need to pay most attention to it. The average person isn't a sporty person, so if they have a high bmi it's almost certainly due to them being fatter than they should be.
BIG FAT TIGER after many diets and pills i have been on allopurinal since december and it works fine.i still avoid the foods that cause it for me though. i also sweat a lot being slightly overwieght [10 kilo] and work like a bastard.drinking 3-4 litre of water or liquid per day is recomended. lager and lime is good for the kidneys if you are in the need of a beer. allopurinal is generic ZYLORIC so i have read.when you go to the doctors demand allopurinol.dont accept colchacine which is rubbish and dont work after a while. good luck kiddo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Had it elevated all yesterday, cold compress, Naproxen, paracetamol and by the grace of god I've woken this morning and it seems a fair bit better. I'll be a'hoppin a'skippin and a'jumpin down Wembley Way. Cheers fella's.
I had my diving medical in February, PADI uses BMI as a guide. The dive doc says he has to go by their guidelines. I told him that I should have the same limits as he has, as he is as fat as me, his answer was...I'm the doc...I'm not PADI. Still he did me a favour. I know now that I dont enjoy being a fat ****er strugglng at the end of a hour long dive and have to do something about it.
I'm just worried there maybe Imposters about and someone will kick me pretending to be me! An arse kicking contest down wembley way could be a laugh tho
