I will say I have heard Boruc will be back up at best if we get the players we want.

I don't know much about Schmeichel but I'm not convinced Boruc needs replacing. He's generally been excellent this year.

His shot stopping is second to none, but his distribution and generally every time the ball gets passed to him is pretty terrible. I can see why Pochettino would want a more cultured keeper in place to be honest.
(I obviously love the nutjob though)

Keepers are incredibly hard to rate I find. Every keeper down to league 2 level are going to be good shot stoppers, it is their main job. The thing that seperates them is their concentration levels, positioning, distribution, commanding of their box and defence etc. Marshall for example has gained many plaudits for his performances this season (and rightly so) but I do wonder having not watched him properly how many of these saves he would've had to make if he was very good in the other areas that I have highlighted.

I don't think that's the way it works in the EPL. Everyone wants competition for places and the players accept that they may not start every game, or at least, Saints have generally avoided signing the prima donnas who don't accept rotation without throwing a hissy fit.

Isn't Boruc out of contract next season aswell? Could be a case of compete for a year, see how it goes then let Boruc leave when his contract expires?

It's not just his shot stopping, he commands his penalty area and the defence looks much more organised when he plays. His throwing is fine and for me kicking is the least important part of goalkeeping by about a million miles.

But then I also think we have a tendency to piss about too much with the ball at the back and there's no way Poch will change that.

Why would he leave Leicester, where he would be virtually guaranteed 38 premier league starts, if we weren't to give him some sort of assurances about his role?

He may look at Boruc and think that's a pressure cooker waiting to go off... And believe hell be number one very soon, if not from the start.

The question is where will we play him? Central midfield or left back?

because he would be moving to a club that is already top half and has good backing. Leicester may have a similar plan to the one we had when we got promoted but they have as small a squad as we had too. Will their 'unproven at this level' players step up like many of ours did? And is their academy likely to add 3 or 4 to their squad to help out?

IMO £50m a year isn't going to get their squad to the top half of the PL. We got lucky in that the players we had virtually all managed to step up a level and that where we needed some depth we had JWP, Shaw, Chambers that all came through and were up to the task.

David Nugent. Will he succeed in the Prem? This time? 35 years old? I think they have as much chance as Hull City did this year and that is if they spend.

I think Schmeichel would be first choice. Artur's shot stopping is world class but his decision making can be a little dodgy and he keeps kicking the ball out of play.

Lol. Leicester will need to spend that £50m this year just to have a hope of surviving. I was merely pointing out that the guy who got them there is 35 and hasn't exactly done that well in the Prem before. They will need to spend a lot just to survive. Compare their promotion squad to the one that we got promoted with. How many of their squad compare to the likes of Lallana, Schneiderlin, Fonte etc.

Think Sotonist was alluding to the fact that David Nugent is actually 29. Tough paper round and all that.

i don't know which bit you're confused about but incase i've contributed, i'm saying that if Imp is deliberately exaggerating Nugent's age for effect, I admire his/her persistence.
