Counts for nothing really but a made had a lecture and then a Q&A with Jim White of Sky Sports today, he says Lallana's exit is as good as done.

He speaks exceptionally highly of Mauricio and says having seen him in preseason, he is one of the most impressive coaches he has met/watched.

Closer to the truth than you know, the first time in 20 years that my wife has initiated a football based conversation and it ended up with nobody in the house wanting to talk to her.

I think it's so unfair that you guys get shafted every time one of your players gets good. I hate how the teams with money just hoover up your players and I really hope your board, manager and the likes of Lallana and Shaw dig in and stay with you guys. Once a few more gems roll of the conveyor belt you could really challenge the top few teams.

Cheers mate, the subject of your moniker was another example, although he went to a club that had money rather than being bigger (Blackburn).
How are you feeling about Pardew staying?

It's tough up here right now. Personally the only reason I can come up with for Pardew to leave is I can't see the majority of fans ever taking to him again. In their eyes too much damage has been done. I worry that this bad feeling will mess up our start to next season and leave us in relegation trouble. Maybe a change of manager would have helped from that perspective. But I don't think Pards is as bad as he's being made out to be, and working under Mike Ashley's constraints would test any manager in the world!

Must admit I cast envious glances your way, your team seems so well put together at the moment. Assuming no-one leaves this summer what sort of players do you think you need to take you up another level?

Pardew will always be the guy who took us to Wembley and won us the JPT. For what it's worth, I think he's a talented football manager but he seems to have some major character flaws. Maybe after last season he can learn to rein those in. You're never too old to change.

Think we're in a similar situation to you a couple of seasons ago, but without the burden of Europa League football to come. The 1st eleven is great but we don't have the depth to cope with injuries and suspensions.
In that ideal world where the manager and key players stay then for me our top three targets are goalkeeper(no one else close to Boruc), central defender and striker.

We've been strongly linked to be in the hunt for Kasper Schmeichael, Danny Ings could be on our radar and Caulker has been mentioned. Those three players are a good fit in terms of age/potential/price and attitude. They might not be all first teamers yet, but they'll improve the squad

Agree with this. Everyone is so focussed on keeping the manager and players we have (understandably). But if we do keep them, and get these three (or similar) I think that would mark a very successful summer - not forgetting SRL's World Cup Winners medal of course ;-)

Liverpool are willing to meet the £20.4mill release clause for Dani Parejo according to a Spanish newspaper. He plays in a similar position to Adam...

He's more of a CM, even a DM a lot of the time, though he does seem quite versatile. Also 20m for him would be nuts. I wouldn't pay more than 10m.

Yes I did look him up after I posted that and realised he generally plays CM but he does play AM.

Well look at it this way: they play a narrow diamond most of the time. Parejo play in any of those four positions in midfield. Gerrard will continue to play holding. Coutinho and Sterling are already their attacking midfielders, and with the arrival of Parejo, Henderson may take up a more attacking role as well. And don't forget they have Allen. That's a lot of depth.

When they do play with wingers, Sterling tends to be one, and we've seen Suarez playing wide. Coutinho also often ends up on the left, and Henderson often on the right. Look at all that depth.

I seriously doubt they'll actually sign Parejo though.

Pardew signed some good players at the beginning of his tenure and they are still in our first team (Fonte, Lambert etc.), albeit whether it was down to him or our scouts or whether your Chairman is more spendthrifty it is hard to say!
